Responsibilities

  • Engineer of record for project development plans, specifications and estimates for task assignments.
  • Oversight of all design activity from project engineers, design engineers, and CADD technicians, as well as coordination with other engineering and sciences disciplines.
  • Maintain technical design knowledge and expand capabilities through attendance or membership with various engineering committees or organizations.
  • Responsible for project billing, budget management, scheduling, preparing scope and task proposals, technical writing, man-hour estimates, man-power projections, and client and sub-consultant management.
  • Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills to report project status to senior staff and attend meetings with clients and sub-consultants.

Requirements

  • BS in Civil, Water Resources, Biological Resources, or Agricultural Engineering or related discipline, with minimum of twelve (12) years’ experience in Water Resources and Environment Engineering, including at least two (2) years as a project manager.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Maryland (or ability to apply for reciprocity).
  • Experience working on Water Resources and Environment projects for federal, state, county, city, or local municipalities.
  • Prior modeling (e.g., Hec-RAS, TR-20, TR-55, HY-8) and design (e.g., drainage, stormwater, erosion and sediment control, coastal, stream restoration) experience in Water Resources and Environment with a functional understanding of other disciplines.
  • Working knowledge of regional marketing and business development activities.
  • Ability to manage staff, review and track project billings, and general office operations.
  • Proficient using Microstation and associated design software with strong computer skills.
  • Excellent technical writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge and technical experience applying engineering design principles.
  • Able to work well within a project team by building relationships and teamwork.
  • High-level of integrity, ethics, quality service, and safety.
  • Maintain a positive rapport with supervisors and employees.
