About the role
As the Project Manager, you will manage all aspects of projects, including risk to cost, schedule, and quality. You will be responsible for the day-to-day successful execution of contracted engineering, procurement, and construction scope in the areas of performance, financial metrics, planning, schedule, quality, contractual compliance, safety, and client satisfaction. This role involves providing for the successful staffing of the project, managing and leading small teams of multi-discipline professionals, and coordinating the activities associated with the engineering, procurement, construction, and startup elements of the project team.

The Team
BV’s Governments & Communities business works to provide innovative solutions and integrated planning, design, and construction support for mission-critical facilities, as well as threat reduction and environmental services support worldwide. By joining this team, you will help provide infrastructure for community benefit through regulated utilities and government agencies. This team partners with customers to align their people, processes, technologies, and data analytics in the face of industry transformation. Responsibilities
- Lead team efforts for marketing, strategy development, prospect identification, proposal development, client presentations, project budgeting, and contracting for successful opportunities. Accountable for new business objectives and overall project performance.
- Interact with assigned clients, engage in client and community activities, and promote Black & Veatch. Support development of the overall market business plan, market strategies, and client engagement strategies.
- Oversee engineering manager(s) and develop project performance goals. Accountable for implementation and active involvement with internal project teams and owner representatives on project activities.
- Perform or assist with the performance and commercial management of projects, including budgeting, invoicing, payments, and leading project performance reviews.
- Focus on team development, mentoring, and coaching on performance improvement. Recommend training, promotion, and expansion of the team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of active water/wastewater experience with demonstrated leadership in the Kansas City market (preferred).
- Professional Engineering License (preferred).
- Understanding of budgets and financial metrics.
- Contract negotiation skills, including knowledge of terms, risks, pricing, and payment terms.
- Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements, including background checks, drug screens, and motor vehicle records searches.
