About the role
Welty Energy is a professional services company specializing in program and project management, transmission line engineering, substation engineering, and construction oversight. Based in Akron, OH, they manage projects ranging from 4kV to 765kV, totaling approximately $500 million annually in the Midwest and Northeast regions.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with all applicable stakeholders to establish and maintain communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Act as the primary point of contact with clients regarding project progress and requirements.
- Conduct technical reviews of specifications, drawings, contracts, and other construction documents to ensure compliance with client standards and specifications.
- Plan and organize project activities, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Direct project planning and status meetings to ensure adherence to schedules and financial goals.
- Provide regular updates on project status to internal and external management teams.
- Oversee construction package reviews, pre-award meetings, field visits, and project site walk-downs.
- Manage submittals, reviews, and coordination of required project information and documents.
- Identify and communicate necessary outages and obtain required permits and approvals.
- Avoid schedule interruptions and conflicts with other projects through effective planning and execution.
- Perform site safety inspections and focus on stakeholder interaction and client expectations.
- Estimate, monitor, and control project activities according to project management principles.
- Adhere to client's methods, processes, and policies while planning and executing projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or relevant experience in electric utility project management.
- 6-14 years of experience in project management or project controls within the electric utility industry, with preference given to those with PMP certification.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective leadership and organizational skills.
- 10-20% travel required, including initial onboarding, annual all-hands meeting, and client site visits.
