About the role
The Project Manager I – Traffic at HNTB will lead traffic engineering projects across New England and beyond. Projects span from planning and traffic studies to traffic signal and ITS engineering, microsimulation, and real-time operational strategies. This role involves managing projects through their full lifecycle, collaborating with clients, and ensuring successful outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Develop project scope and fee quotations, and assist in preparing technical proposals and contracts.
- Serve as the primary client liaison and manage the project team to deliver the scope, schedule, and budgets to completion.
- Perform technical discipline tasks including analysis, reports, design, specification, and production for assigned projects.
- Implement HNTB's project delivery plan using SDA on each project.
- Lead the development and execution of the project management plan.
- Supervise and mentor team to overall project objectives.
- Coordinate with managers on project staffing, including recruitment, development, retention, and succession of project staff.
- Partner with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to assist with business development, building client relationships, and pursuit efforts for strategic and mini-mega projects.
- Work with the project team and marketing resources to prepare proposal and presentation materials.
- Lead proposal development and interview presentations for strategic and mini-mega projects.
- May be responsible for the recruitment, hiring, development, and retention of staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- 8 years of relevant experience
- 2 years task management or Deputy PM experience
Preferred
- Experience managing transportation projects from planning through delivery
- Knowledge of traffic engineering and planning principles, including signal design, ITS, and traffic modeling
- Familiarity with project management tools and processes to monitor budgets, schedules, and deliverables
- Prominent ability to lead and inspire collaboration across disciplines
- Professional Engineer (PE) license and PTOE
