Summary Description

The role involves assisting in the administration of various sustainability projects, including the installation of new technology like utility monitoring and solar/clean energy systems. The position also entails monitoring energy usage, investigating unusual utility usage, and coordinating with vendors and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Administer design, implementation, and warranty for sustainability projects
• Monitor energy usage and expenditures to detect and resolve unusual usage
• Coordinate with facilities management and vendors on improving sustainability initiatives
• Communicate with government officials, school staff, and the community regarding assigned projects
• Participate in meetings with various stakeholders

Requirements

• Ability to physically access and complete inspection activities
• Willingness to travel between construction sites on an unscheduled basis
• Flexibility to work a flexible schedule and be available for evening or weekend meetings

Job Specific Information

• Salary range: $41.22 - $60.34 per hour, based on years of service

Special Requirements

Ability to travel between construction sites on an unscheduled basis. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule and be available to work outside of normal business hours as needed and occasionally attend evening or weekend Board of Education, committees, or other meetings.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Professional knowledge of project management, including computer systems applications, methodology of rehabilitation of existing structures
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and utility systems and energy conservation strategies
• Knowledge of budget and cost estimations, resource and schedule planning, public procurement laws, customs, and procedures
• Excellent interpersonal skills for presenting oneself effectively and professionally
• Practical knowledge of energy performance measurement and indices for schools, including troubleshooting irregularities
• Knowledge of or the ability to obtain knowledge of and the ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS)

Education, Training, And Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Construction, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• Five years of increased responsibility in administrative, technical, and field experience in engineering, HVAC, building automation systems
• Minimum of five years of experience detecting, investigating, and reducing high-energy use in facilities and managing energy and utilities programs for a large multi-facility organization
• Extensive training in computers, building automation, and database management preferred
