Responsibilities
- Provide structural design expertise and assist in leading our Structures & Bridges design group on projects throughout Maryland and surrounding areas
- Oversee all design and inspection activity from structural project engineers, design engineers, and CADD technicians, as well as, coordinate design with other engineering and sciences disciplines on a variety of structures and bridge related projects
- Lead in QA/QC for completeness and accuracy of design work in conformance with company and department standards and guidelines
- Maintain technical design knowledge and expand capabilities through attendance or membership with various engineering committees or organizations
- Responsible for project billing, budget management, scheduling, preparing scope and task proposals, technical writing, man-hour estimates, man-power projections, and client and sub-consultant management
- Serve as a liaison between BAI and its clients and subconsultants through excellent verbal and written communication skills
Requirements
- BS in Civil Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in Structural Engineering with at least two (2) of those as a project manager
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Maryland (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire)
- Completion of NHI 130055 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges
- Completion of NHI 130053 Bridge Inspection Refresher Training if NHI 130055 was completed more than 5 years prior
- Experience working on structures and bridge projects for DOT/DPW projects for state, county, city, or local municipalities; experience with MDOT SHA, MDTA, and MD County DOT/DPW projects is preferred
- Strong understanding of AASHTO design guidelines
- Proficient using Microstation and other structural design software
- Detail oriented with strong skills in structural analysis, steel design, and concrete design as it relates to transportation structures
- Excellent technical writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills
- Working knowledge of regional marketing and business development activities
- Able to manage staff, track project progress, and review and track project billings
