Responsibilities
The role of the Senior Project Manager is to initiate, plan, execute, control and close projects according to ONB’s established project management methodology. In conjunction with Project Sponsors, the Sr. PM defines the project’s objectives, success criteria, and scope, schedule, and budget constraints. The Sr. PM also builds the project team and directs their efforts to ensure that project objectives are met or exceeded according to plan, per quality standards.
Key Accountabilities
Comprehensive Project Lifecycle Management
- Direct and manage projects from beginning to end, using processes outlined in the five PMI Process Groups: Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring/Controlling, and Closing
- Define project objective, scope, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with the project’s sponsors
- Develop the project charter, roadmap, and detailed project/task plan. Depending on the project, develop unique plans for client experience, communication, testing, training, change management, and/or configuration management
Stakeholder Communication, Team Leadership, and Agile Integration
- Apply agile practices when working with scrum teams and assist with cultivating agile at ONB
- Effectively communicate project expectations to project sponsors, steering committee, team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear manner
- Serve as the project’s liaison with project stakeholders
- Coach, mentor, and motivate project team members. Influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work
- Develop and grow business relationships that are vital to the success of the project
Risk Mitigation, Resource Management, and Continuous Improvement
- Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals. With support from project sponsors, negotiate the acquisition of staffing and project resources needed to complete the project, including both internal and external resources (third-party contractors/consultants)
- Apply change, risk, and resource management
- Determine resolution and mitigation plans for identified project risks and issues
- Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path
- Prepare project dashboards, proposals, and presentations, and communicate this information to project sponsors, executives, team members, and stakeholders
- Conduct post-implementation lessons learned discussions and document successful project elements and recommendations for future improvement opportunities
- Support the development of best practices and tools for project execution and management
Qualifications And Education Requirements
- 5-6 years of project management experience in IT or banking
- PMP certification preferred
- Agile (CSM, PMI-ACP) certification is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- In-depth experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
- Experience with Microsoft Project and Visio is a plus
- Excellent understanding and experience with processes, procedures and functions involved in managing large complex projects
- Very organized and detail oriented
- Possess proactive problem-solving skills
- Adaptable and able to calmly deal with shifting priorities
- Function well in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
