Principal Responsibilities
- Develop strong working relationships with each builder account, to gain trust/credibility for repeat or additional work
- Build relationships with builder’s team and subcontractors
- Work with builder crew to assure best end user product (shower framing, underlayment heights and requirements, electrical requirements and fireplace codes, etc.)
- Communicate with builder throughout project to ensure satisfaction
- Request and represent H.J. Martin and Son at builder showcase of home tours
- Attend builder meetings regularly and promote H.J. Martin and Son involvement
- Field measure, or delegation of field measurement to others, depending upon complexity of project
- Create bid sheets per project in which cost, materials needed, labor requirements and percentage of profit to be earned are broken down
- Actively pursue builder business through word of mouth, referrals and permit knowledge
- Earn contracts by following through with designer, builder, and /or end user to close quote
- Value engineer products/services in order to meet budget requirements, if necessary
- Perform or delegate onto designer conversion of quotation to sales order; ensure proper materials are pulled from stock and/or ordered, including all sundries to complete the job
- Work closely with purchasing on arrival dates of material, to fit timeline requests
- Work with H.J. Martin and Son installation manager and /or subcontractors in relation to scheduling of jobs, assignment of cuts, and assistance in selection of skill level to ensure customer satisfaction
- Compile and provide project specifics for each installer (i.e., blueprints, layout, drawings)
- Partial bill or properly invoice each job when competed
- Work closely with Accounts Receivable in relation to job payment, payment timeline, intents to lien and partial payment resolutions
- Review Timberline cost vs. bid sheet to learn where mistakes were made and improve upon those mistakes
- Acknowledge and submit monthly pay requests of subcontractors and suppliers
Position Requirements
- Experience/Education Required: Minimum 5 years experience in construction related activities preferred, but not required
- On Center Software, and Quick Bid knowledge preferred, but not required
- Excellent interpersonal and professional communication, both verbal and written
- Strong ability to use good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Highly organized, and ability to handle multiple project/tasks simultaneously with strong follow up skills
- Capacity to handle situations with calm demeanor and approach
- Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints, contracts, and specifications
