About the role
The Project Manager will lead and motivate a team of managers and workers in the day-to-day management of project safety, quality, schedule, cost control, contracts, subcontractors, suppliers, proposals, estimates, documentation turnover, client relations/management, field staff and other duties required to execute Engineer Procure Construct (EPC), Construction Management, Construction, and Program Management projects.
Responsibilities
- Oversight of project execution and successful completion on time and within budget.
- Adherence to safety programs, training and policies, and promotion of safety & health performance of project team members and subcontractors.
- Leadership and guidance in multiple facets of projects including safety, quality, engineering, procurement, construction, environmental compliance, project controls, and public/community relations.
- Development and management of client relationships and interfacing with clients for proposal and project related items.
- Conducting project risk reviews, consulting with the Legal Department as needed.
- Expertise in reviewing, negotiating, approving, and executing prime contracts, subcontracts, and change orders.
- Implementation of the Project Execution Plan, including engineering, procurement, and construction execution, the quality assurance plan, safety & health plan, subcontracting plan, project staffing plan, organization chart, and procurement plan.
- Analysis, approval, and implementation of project specifications, drawing releases, and design changes.
- Training of new project team members on the PEP.
- Analysis and communication of project status, risks, schedule, and costs to all internal and external stakeholders.
- Management of downstream RFP and bid processes, preparation of detailed scope of work documents for supplier and subcontractor contracts, recruitment, prequalification, evaluation, recommendation, and selection of subcontractors and suppliers.
- Training of new project team members on these processes.
- Management of contract administration including RFI's, submittals, change management, contract closeout, and claims mitigation.
- Analysis and approval of internal and external reports including project scheduling, budgeting, cash flow forecast, and project status reports.
- Presenting reports to internal and external executive management as required.
- Management of prime contract, subcontractor, and supplier invoicing process.
- Management and oversight of client, supplier, and company commissioning and startup teams.
- Management and communication of financial aspects of projects to executive management, client, and others as required.
- Development and implementation of project turnover documentation, warranty administration, project closeout, and recordkeeping/retention processes and procedures.
- Communication with governmental, industry, and public entities, and community relations on project-related matters.
- Understanding and implementing plans to satisfy project permit requirements and regulations.
- Leading and coordinating project planning, scheduling, estimating, cost development, and establishing critical project objectives.
- Reviewing daily construction field reports as necessary.
- Understanding and facilitating program-based real estate and ROW acquisitions.
- Reporting all employee relations issues and consulting with the appropriate Human Resources Representative to resolve issues in a compliant and consistent manner.
- Mentoring and providing formal and informal training to interns, construction coordinators, assistant construction project managers, construction project managers, engineers, and support services.
- Providing performance feedback for each project team member to their respective Department Managers.
- Managing community and building trades relationships as necessary.
- Leading the development and implementation of project labor agreements with building trades as required.
- Providing leadership, guidance, and instruction to less experienced staff.
- Ensuring compliance with company and site safety policies.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in construction, construction management, engineering, program management or related field and 13 years relevant project management experience in the construction industry.
- Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
- Capable of executing projects and achieving company certification as an EPC Project Manager and/or Program Manager.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding work environment, able to work overtime on short notice.
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency using Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others (owners, contractors, engineers, designers) in a multi-disciplined project team environment to resolve design or drawing issues as appropriate and to accomplish objectives.
- Strong experience with document control, scheduling, cost control and project management software.
