Job Summary
This position requires proficiency in business development, managing projects and budgets, and coordinating staff and subcontractors to provide consulting, engineering, and construction/field operations services related to every aspect of mine permitting, reclamation, and remediation.
Responsibilities
- Provides engineering technical and management leadership for mine permitting, reclamation, and remediation.
- Evaluates current market conditions and works with leadership on business development.
- Anticipates and solves both routine and unusual engineering problems with creativity, foresight, and mature engineering judgment.
- Determines program objectives and requirements, organizes programs and projects, and develops standards and guides for diverse engineering activities.
- Pursues development of clients and markets with business line leaders, working on business development activities for targeted growth markets and accounts.
- Supports and grows the mining practice by providing long-term strategic solutions for mine infrastructure to existing and potential clients.
- Participates in industry leading technical and regulatory forums and selects sector trade organizations.
- Coordinates conceptual studies, detailed design, field investigation, field installation and construction support in the mining industry.
- Directs contract negotiations and prepares project documentation.
- Plans, organizes, and implements project planning, budgeting, and establishes critical project objectives.
- Maintains and promotes a focus on safety, utilizing Burns & McDonnell's Quality Program in production of final deliverables.
- Ensures effective communication and coordination with other engineering disciplines.
- Manages changes, including their impact on total cost of ownership.
- Mentors and guides less experienced designers and engineers.
- Interfaces with suppliers, clients, other engineering disciplines, detailers/designers.
- Prepares construction/installation scopes of work.
- Develops construction specifications, project schedules, project budgets, and project staffing plans.
- Participates in construction planning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 7 years (15 years preferred) of related experience with mine permitting, mine reclamation, remediation, and mine infrastructure.
- Experience with tailing and heap leach direct mining is a plus.
- Demonstrated progressive experience in the mining industry.
- Ability to serve as the primary point of contact with clients and develop client relationships.
- Preferred 8 years of leadership experience.
