About the role
Carrier is seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to oversee scope of work in data center construction projects. This role is responsible for startup, commissioning, and warranty management of Carrier air- and water-cooled chillers. The Project Manager works closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, commissioning authorities, general contractors, and subcontractors. Primary job sites are in the West South-Central region of the United States, including Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and surrounding areas. Travel from a nearby regional home location is acceptable. Extensive travel for onsite construction project management outside this geography may be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead startup, commissioning, and warranty processes for Carrier air- and water-cooled chillers in newly constructed data centers.
- Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, ensuring schedules and budgets are met.
- Track and review key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor project success.
- Conduct progress meetings with stakeholders, addressing design, material delivery, and labor schedules.
- Ensure all projects meet or exceed booked profit margin goals.
- Work with project coordination to order and track all chiller parts needed for warranty execution.
- Collaborate with sales, prime contractors, and end-users to fulfill project scope and deliverables.
- Represent Carrier between the customer, commissioning authority (CxA), general contractor, and subcontractors, ensuring smooth communication and project progression.
- Provide professional, timely resolution for customer concerns, ensuring satisfaction with all aspects of project execution.
- Interpret and apply mechanical, electrical, and architectural drawings to ensure compliance with design specifications.
- Ensure adherence to industry codes, standards, and project specifications.
- Apply working knowledge of Building Automation System (BAS) integration to ensure proper controls functionality.
- Manage the change order process, preventing scope creep and maintaining project integrity.
- Accurately forecast monthly revenue by estimating project completion costs.
- Manage project documentation, including warranty processing and factory-generated service information in collaboration with our Service Engineering team.
- Maintain rigorous job safety standards across all projects.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- 5+ years of project management experience, or 4+ years in mechanical installation, building automation, electrical installation, or construction.
- 2+ years reading and interpreting blueprints, and technical mechanical systems documents.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering; or a Master's degree/MBA.
- Data center industry experience with water- or air-cooled chillers.
- Commercial HVAC expertise, including centrifugal chillers, Cooling Distribution Unit systems, and airside equipment.
- Projection Management Professional certification.
- Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification or experience with Building Automation Systems.
- Strong ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong ability to build rapport and trust with customers through active listening and effective solutions.
Pay and Benefits
The annual salary for this position is between $96,000.00 - $192,000.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.
