Position Overview

The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for planning and overseeing projects to ensure they are completed in a timely fashion. This role manages identified and organizationally endorsed projects that advance Canopy's Mission of helping kids and families thrive. In this role, the PM has responsibility in allocating resources, monitoring project progress, and keeping stakeholders informed throughout the project lifecycle, while also gathering, analyzing and documenting business requirements to ensure solutions are effective and efficient. The PM must also demonstrate leadership in working with and through project stakeholders and colleagues at all levels of the organization to meet project milestones, translate business needs into actionable plans, achieve established goals and support successful implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and provide oversight of identified large scale projects through development of scope, tasks, timelines, and human resource allocation. Projects may be ongoing and related to important processes that require close observation, or time-limited, smaller scale projects related to identified opportunities for improvement.
  • Facilitate group meetings or work groups to address project planning, implementation and follow-up processes.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to execute performance improvement or other project implementations by coordinating resources to ensure effective roll-out.
  • Create, communicate, and manage detailed project plans in order to set and manage expectations for project deliverables with the project team.
  • Determine and define project scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines and success criteria.
  • Predict resources needed to reach objectives and manage those resources in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Provide regular and transparent project status updates to stakeholders, including project strategy, progress, risks, dependencies, issues, and recommended adjustments, and actively drive identified issues to resolution.
  • Maintain an understanding and appreciation of processes/procedures and governance required to lead large projects.
  • Perform regular and frequent follow through to ensure successful and timely implementations.
  • Identify risks, dependencies, and issues, and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor and measure project performance against defined goals and success criteria, using outcomes to identify improvement opportunities and inform lessons learned.
  • Lead requirements gathering efforts through interviews, workshops, and documentation.
  • Analyze workflows, systems, and data to identify gaps and root causes.
  • Develop clear requirements documentation, process maps, and functional specifications.
  • Translate business needs into actionable tasks and solution designs.
  • Partner with IT and operational teams to validate requirements, evaluate solution design, and support testing, rollout
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in behavioral health or social services and/or the information technology related field with a minimum of three years of experience or Master's Degree with a minimum of one year of experience in behavioral health or social services related field and/or the information technology field performing administrative duties, project planning, or data collection and analysis.
  • The candidate should have a solid understanding of project management concepts, practices, and methodologies.
  • Project Management Certification is not required but preferred.
  • Experience with project management software is preferred.
  • Experience working with cross-functional technical and non-technical teams is preferred.
