Project Manager - Interoperability

About the role

We are seeking a seasoned Project Manager with healthcare domain knowledge to oversee and drive strategic technology initiatives. This role requires situational leadership, escalation strategy, and executive communication to navigate complex dynamics and ensure project success. The Project Manager will provide end-to-end oversight for onboarding highly customized new accounts, coordinating cross-functional business and IT activities from initiation through implementation.

Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of the project management life cycle, including budgeting, change management, and external vendor management to drive successful execution aligned with organizational goals.
• Lead the implementation of tools and methodologies for managing project scope, schedule, budget, risk, and resource allocations for both Agile and Waterfall projects.
• Organize teams across multiple workstreams, facilitate communication between cross-functional teams, and develop professional relationships at all levels, from individual contributors to IT/Business leadership.
• Identify, manage, track, and mitigate potential technical risks that could impact project success.
• Escalate issues and challenges through the appropriate organizational chain of command, including proposed mitigations and strategies.
• Coach and mentor project coordinators and project managers, leading effectively in a matrix environment.
• Influence project sponsors, owners, project teams, and extended stakeholders, providing thought leadership to drive organizational initiatives to closure.
• Develop content for Program Stakeholder and Executive Steering meetings and report program status per organizational guidelines.
• Manage challenging dynamics using outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
• Drive innovation by understanding the application landscape and identifying opportunities for improvement, mobilizing teams for desired outcomes.
• Oversee the onboarding of new accounts, including custom product development, data transition, member enrollment, welcome kit and ID card issuance, and account-specific reporting or pharmacy benefit carve-out requirements.

Requirements

• Strong Healthcare Payer experience in Interoperability / FHIR store capabilities.
• 10+ years of Program/Project management experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in process management.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in health insurance operations (if PMP certified) or 5 years (if not).
• Proven track record of meeting project deadlines with successful outcomes.
• Ability to thrive in a matrix management, hands-on environment.
• Strong negotiating, influencing, and advocacy skills.
• Outstanding communication and relationship management skills.
• Experience with CQI, TQM, PDCA, PMBOK, or other formal improvement techniques preferred.
• PMP and Agile certifications preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience (advanced degree preferred).

Location

This position is located near Canton, MA, with a hybrid working model available.

Pay

A reasonable estimate of the current compensation range for this role in the U.S. is $80,600.00 – $172,400.00.
