Project Manager in Training
About the role
Eagle Electrical Services seeks a Project Manager in Training who will provide oversight to Project Engineer(s), Assistant Project Manager(s), and coordinate scheduling efforts with Project Supervisor(s). This position ensures project field teams work within company standard operating procedures and clearly understand project scopes, tasks, and schedules. The role manages and coordinates all project resources efficiently to perform work within budget and ahead of schedule. This is an in-person, full-time, exempt position located in Plain City, OH.
Responsibilities
- Drive the overall flow of projects from inception to completion.
- Oversee project organization, scheduling, budgeting, and implementation.
- Support field personnel with subcontractor relations and resolve field problems.
- Maintain full financial responsibility for projects, understanding construction financial and accounting practices.
- Ensure efficient project document control, including insurance, bonding, permits, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and correspondence.
- Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, or design professionals to discuss and resolve work procedures, complaints, or construction problems.
- Prepare and submit budget estimates, progress reports, and cost tracking reports.
- Inspect or review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, environmental regulations, or other regulations.
- Select subcontractors and equipment suppliers with input from engineering, estimating, and purchasing.
- Verify correct drawings are distributed to field personnel.
- Create schedule of values or billing format as required by contract documents.
- Create project schedule showing completion, delivery dates, and subcontractor requirements; integrate into overall project and manpower schedule.
- Understand notice requirements.
- Write purchase orders for major equipment and subcontractors, indicating shipping requirements, delivery dates, and requesting proper delivery notice.
- Host and attend meetings with internal and external entities to review scheduling, delivery, work plans, job progress, manpower, and solutions to setbacks.
- Support the accounting department in monthly billings and collections, following up on outstanding balances.
- Collaborate with foremen regarding project safety, toolbox talks, and weekly walk-throughs.
- Obtain as-builts from the field and request CAD from engineering.
- Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to the Division Manager/Project Executive with recommendations for resolution.
- Comply with company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- Minimum 3-5 years of related experience in electrical construction or a similar industry.
- Working knowledge of the construction industry and contract documentation.
- Understanding of federal, state, and city regulations and guidelines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Familiarity with Accubid, AutoCAD, Revit, and other electrical, technical, or construction programs (a plus).
- Familiarity with project management/document control software.
- Familiarity with construction/financial software packages.
