Responsible for taking a direct leadership role in accomplishing the mission and expanding the business unit through successful project management. Oversees all aspects of project management through Commissioning levels 1-5, including client management, project team leadership, financial oversight, and business growth.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as Competent Person managing safety on projects, ensuring team members complete project-specific safety training, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and weekly toolbox training.
  • Utilizes company accounting, project management, and resource planning systems to forecast project resource requirements, billing projections, and expenses.
  • Proactively resolves resource conflicts and updates project information as it becomes available.
  • Manages project finances, including budgeting, estimating, value engineering, and client budgetary expectations throughout the project cycle.
  • Identifies and explains financial variances, advising clients of potential change orders due to scope variances.
  • Creates and manages an overall milestone schedule incorporating owner, design, and construction team activities.
  • Leads and supervises multiple project team members, including project managers, client representatives, vendors, contractors, and end users in design-build scenarios.
  • Completes project opening and close-out processes, including commissioning reports, as-built documentation, operations/maintenance manuals, and lessons learned.
  • Maintains proprietary information confidentiality during client communications.
  • Develops proposals and credentials for new project opportunities and expands current service offerings for clients.
  • Manages document control and ensures constant communication with project stakeholders (e.g., client, construction, and design teams).
  • Mentors and supervises field technical staff and other project resources.
  • Manages transitions for new clients and new CxE relationships, as well as diversity of CxE levels across projects.
  • Trains and develops PM-2 level and below employees in technical concepts and advanced project management strategies.
  • Identifies professional development opportunities for self and supervised employees.
  • Represents the company at business development functions and maintains a positive outward projection.
  • Supervises subordinate supervisors and oversees Operations resources, including training, planning, assigning work, performance appraisals, and resolving problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college or university, or eight to ten years of related experience/training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and passport.
  • First responder (first aid + CPR) certification (company-provided).
  • OSHA 30 or local jurisdiction equivalent (company-provided).
  • NFPA 70E – Arc flash training (company-provided).
  • Code of ethics training (company-provided).
  • Additional safety training (company-provided).

Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret contract documents, technical project documentation, and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to present information effectively and tailor responses to audiences, including managers, clients, peers, and technical field staff.
  • Proficiency in mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, geometry, trigonometry, and practical applications of fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
  • Strong reasoning ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, accounting, scheduling, and project management software.
  • Mastery of the psychrometric chart, energy transfers (heat, hydronic, air, electricity, kinetic), and Ohm’s law.
  • Knowledge of contracts and Scope of Work (SOW) for managed projects.
  • Ability to monitor and assess performance of self and others.
  • Strong time management, active listening, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel by car and airplane, with up to 2 contiguous weeks of travel (not exceeding 50% of annual occupational hours).
  • Ability to motivate, develop, and direct people, and provide fair, objective feedback.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including awareness of others’ reactions and adaptability.
  • Leadership, delegation, and persuasiveness in driving team goals.

Physical Demands

Offsite Work Environment:

  • Regularly required to use hands, stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear.
  • Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Noise level in the home or company office environment is usually quiet.

Onsite Work Environment:

  • Regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions, moving mechanical components, and energized electrical components.
  • Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold/heat (non-weather), and risk of electrical shock.
  • Noise level at project sites is usually loud, requiring hearing protection.

Schedule

This position may require working more than 8 hours per day and potentially on weekends, depending on project assignments.
