Summary
The APS Project Manager I has managerial and technical oversight for the initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure of assigned business unit projects. Manages multiple projects typically lasting six (6) to eighteen (18) months involving a minimal number of internal stakeholders. Leads teams of five (5) to ten (10) people to accomplish project objectives.
Major Accountabilities
- Plans, monitors and manages all aspects of multiple, smaller scale projects including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure in accordance with internal process methodologies.
- Ensures completion according to project plan (i.e. scope, schedule, budget).
- Develops and presents comprehensive project plan to project sponsors and management. Obtains all necessary approvals.
- Led or coordinates project planning, resourcing, staffing, progress reporting, people management, and troubleshooting.
- Maintains performance and recommends schedule changes, cost adjustments or resource additions.
- Oversees schedules and directs team resources. Ensures that materials, equipment or resources are delivered on time.
- Ensures project results meet requirements regarding quality, reliability, schedule and cost.
- Provides timely and accurate information and status updates to project teams, business management, and project sponsors.
Minimum Requirements
- A four-year Bachelors degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Information Systems or related field from an accredited college or university plus two (2) years job-related project management experience.
- In lieu of bachelors degree, combination of college coursework and/or experience as a Project Manager or in positions defining and/or managing project scopes, timelines, budgets and delivery equaling four (4) years.
Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge Or Qualifications
- Solid understanding of Project Management principles and methodology.
- Basic functional/technical knowledge of the business units line of business.
- PMP certification.
