Project Manager | High-End Residential Remodels
About the Role
You'll lead our construction division. Every remodel we sell runs through you. You'll run a team that today includes two superintendents and a pre-construction manager, growing to 4 to 6 superintendents as we scale toward 15 to 25 active projects at a time. You own the outcomes—on time, on budget, and at the quality standard we've staked our name on.
You'll decide how we get faster, leaner, and better without compromising on the materials and methods that make our work different. Sharpening estimating accuracy, tightening logistics, identifying where time and money leak, and building the systems that let us scale without losing quality. You'll report directly to our COO with direct support from the C-suite, plus software engineers building tech around your workflows.
You're the strategic operator on the construction side. You'll bring in top trade partners, train superintendents and crews on materials and methods most builders don't know, and hold the quality bar across every active project. Our design team owns everything upstream: scope, selections, and plans are locked before a project ever reaches construction, ensuring clean handoffs and no chasing design decisions mid-build.
Responsibilities
- Lead and scale the construction division, managing a growing team of superintendents and pre-construction staff
- Own project outcomes: on-time, on-budget delivery with uncompromising quality standards
- Streamline processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and eliminate waste without cutting quality
- Develop and implement systems to scale operations while maintaining high standards
- Collaborate with software engineers to integrate AI tools into construction workflows
- Recruit, train, and manage trade partners and superintendents on unconventional building methods
- Maintain client confidence through complex projects with sharp client-facing skills
- Spend roughly a third of your time in the field, alongside superintendents and in front of clients
- Initially, you may run field operations as we scale up and train trade partners
Requirements
- 5+ years managing residential construction projects with full-cycle ownership of remodels or new builds
- Experience leading superintendents, PMs, or crews directly—not just coordinating around them
- Strong network of subs, vendors, and craftsmen who trust and respond to you
- Proven track record of streamlining processes and reducing costs without sacrificing quality
- Ability to manage a heavy portfolio of projects simultaneously without dropping balls
- Systems-oriented mindset—you identify process gaps and proactively fix them
- Client-facing skills sharp enough to maintain high-end client confidence through complexity
- Genuine drive to learn unconventional building methods: non-toxic materials, mold-resistant assemblies, and advanced building science. Direct experience is a plus; the "let's figure it out" mindset is required
- Flexible on methods, rigid on quality—your standards don’t bend just because the approach is new
- Willingness to learn and keep up with AI tools used daily in our operations
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is an advantage but not required
What This Isn't
- This isn’t a tech role—you don’t need to be a software expert, as our COO and engineers handle that side of the business
- This isn’t a desk-only role—expect roughly a third of your time in the field, alongside superintendents and in front of clients
- Your primary job isn’t running daily field operations—it’s running the system that makes those operations work
What Makes This Different
- Real ownership over how we build—you help write the playbook, not just approve someone else’s
- Every system you create becomes part of how we scale, and every relationship you build improves future projects
- Your work becomes a case study for the industry, proving that healthier building works at real-world prices
- We’re not chasing volume for its own sake—we’re proving that healthy homes can be delivered affordably, profitably, and at scale
- Small team with direct access to founders—decisions are made by people who understand building, not committees
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $105k–$120k, depending on experience
- Bonus: $10k on-target bonus after your first year, tied to company and individual performance
- Healthcare: ICHRA allocation
- Time off: PTO
- Flexibility: The kind that comes with a small team that trusts each other
Clear path to advancement into an Area Manager position as we grow into more new construction and boutique communities.
The Reality
We're a small team with serious ambitions, and there's no hiding on a team this size. Every person here carries real weight, and our current team is only A players. This role will ask a lot of you—some weeks will be brutal. You'll manage a heavy portfolio of active remodels, multiple projects hitting critical phases at once, trade partners falling through, and client decisions that have to happen today.
You'll have full autonomy and zero hand-holding—we hired you to run this, not to be managed. If you're looking to coast or clock out at 40 hours, this isn't the right job. We want someone who gets a little obsessed, who can't help fixing broken processes even when it's not their problem. You'd rather solve the hard problem than the easy one.
The hours aren't always predictable. When you're trying to change how an industry builds, the mission doesn't clock out at 5. But neither does the meaning. Some days you'll wonder why you didn't take the comfortable job at a big GC. Most days you'll know exactly why.
If you want a job where every problem already has a documented solution, this isn't it. If you want to help write the playbook for the next era of residential construction, we should talk.
Location: Austin, TX (on-site + field visits). Primarily Monday–Friday, with occasional Saturday.
