Project Manager - Heavy Civil Construction

Responsibilities

  • Manage mid to large scale projects with moderate to high risk levels.
  • Oversee multiple construction projects in various stages of completion.
  • Coordinate with Construction Operations Manager to ensure project performance aligns with goals.
  • Implement Corporate Safety Policy on all projects.
  • Mentor and guide Assistant Project Managers, Project Assistants, and Project Engineers.
  • Create and submit Work Plans for all assigned projects.
  • Schedule projects logically and budget time to meet deadlines.
  • Determine labor requirements and work with manpower coordinator to dispatch workers.
  • Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with codes and regulations.
  • Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers, and clients.
  • Generate contracts and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to agreements.
  • Obtain necessary permits and licenses, or coordinate with environmental and regulatory staff.
  • Fill in for Project Superintendents as needed and supervise workers.
  • Study job specifications to determine requirements and construction methods.
  • Requisition supplies and materials for construction projects.
  • Prepare budget estimates, progress reports, and cost tracking reports.
  • Develop and implement quality control programs.
  • Take actions to address delays, emergencies, and other issues at construction sites.
  • Communicate with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals.
  • Plan, organize, and direct activities concerning construction and maintenance.
  • Investigate damage, accidents, or delays at construction sites.
  • Evaluate construction methods and assess cost-effectiveness.
  • Provide Project Management duties on multi-faceted projects, including Design-Build projects.
  • Review owner contracts and project estimates at different design phases.
  • Coordinate with design engineers to incorporate constructability into final design.
  • Prepare and submit outgoing correspondence to clients, subcontractors, and other entities.
  • Ensure accuracy, quality, and professionalism of submitted documents.
  • Assist in preparing Owner Payment Applications.
  • Prepare Project Closeout Documents as required.
  • Track projects throughout the warranty period and provide final closeout documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or minimum of 5 years of comparable experience.
  • Minimum 5 - 8 years of experience managing heavy civil design-build projects, covering all aspects from design to implementation.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required.
  • Ability to work effectively with others.

Physical Demands

  • Seldom required to sit.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Compensation Package

  • Pay Range: $130,000 - $160,000 (DOE)
