About the role
If you can look at a set of plans and see the job before it's built, we want your eye on our bids. Our client is a fast-growing operator in the commercial door, dock, and access-control space, handling everything from single-door repairs to full commercial installations across Michigan.
A typical day: you start by reviewing plans for an upcoming commercial installation and working through a material takeoff. Mid‑morning you’re on a call with the sales rep to align on scope before a proposal goes out. After lunch you finalize pricing on a bid due that afternoon, then review a site‑visit report from a technician to refine an estimate on a more complex repair job.
- A highly visible role — your estimates directly shape whether a job is profitable before a single tool is picked up.
- Close collaboration with sales, project management, and the field team.
- A growth‑oriented environment with room to build the estimating function as the branch scales.
Responsibilities
- Review blueprints, schematics, and site information to develop accurate project scopes.
- Prepare material takeoffs and cost estimates for commercial door, dock, and access-control projects.
- Collaborate with sales on proposal development and pricing strategy.

- Coordinate with project management and field teams to ensure estimates translate into deliverable scopes.
Requirements
- Prior estimating experience in construction, commercial doors, dock equipment, or a closely related trade.
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
- Strong Excel skills and comfort with estimating or takeoff software.

- Specific commercial door or dock equipment estimating experience.
- Familiarity with ERP/FSM systems (NetSuite, ServiceTitan, or similar).
