Key Responsibilities
- Estimate and prepare cost estimates, including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and production rates.
- Evaluate vendor and subcontractor proposals and analyze project specifications, scopes of work, schedules, and risk factors.
- Prepare and submit competitive bids and proposals within required deadlines.
- Negotiate and review project agreements.
- Maintain estimating databases, cost histories, and bid documentation.
- Manage projects from contract award through final completion and closeout.
- Coordinate project startup activities, schedules, staffing plans, subcontractors, equipment, and material procurement.
- Monitor project budgets, costs, profitability, and production performance.
- Review and manage project contracts, change orders, RFIs, submittals, and project documentation.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Conduct project site visits and meetings to ensure quality, safety, schedule, and budget objectives are achieved.
- Identify project risks and develop proactive solutions to mitigate issues.
- Track project progress and provide regular status updates to leadership.
- Support invoicing, collections, and project financial reporting activities.
Additional Responsibilities
- Manage multiple bids and projects concurrently while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
- Support strategic growth initiatives and special assignments as directed by leadership.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and industry partners.
- Afford assistance in developing and improving estimating and project management processes and procedures.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in estimating, project management, or a combination of both within asphalt paving, roadway construction, sitework, heavy civil construction, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of paving operations, construction methods, project scheduling, and cost controls.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Experience preparing bids, estimates, and project budgets.
- Prior proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software.
- Experience with estimating software and ERP systems is preferred.
Requirements
- Ability to work in-person from a Florida Coastal Paving office location.
- Ability to travel regularly to project sites, customer meetings, pre-bid meetings, and company locations.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
