About the Role
This engineering position is on the Delaware Basin Gas Plants team, focusing on project execution, operations support, Process Safety Management (PSM) compliance, and facility optimization.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to operations, including troubleshooting, debottlenecking, optimization, maintenance projects, PSM compliance, PHA participation, action item resolution, and DOT compliance.
- Develop scope of work and for-bid packages for engineering, construction, and commissioning activities.
- Track and forecast costs and milestone schedules; communicate progress to project stakeholders.
- Size and specify mechanical equipment such as separators, filters, tanks, heat exchangers, air coolers, pumps, compressors, treaters, and dehydrators.
- Select appropriate piping materials, diameters, and thicknesses to meet design requirements.
- Size and specify relief devices, control valves, and regulators.
- Interpret and design Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Plot Plans, Piping Plans, and Piping Isometrics.
- Develop process simulations and material & energy balances using ProMax software for Cryogenic gas plants, including Dehydration and Amine systems, to support process optimization.
- Apply knowledge of midstream process controls, instrumentation, gas gathering, and processing operations (e.g., Cryogenic gas plants, compression, glycol and dehydration, amine treating, hydrocarbon recovery, and condensate stabilization).
- Apply knowledge of industry codes, standards, regulations, and best practices (e.g., API, ASME B31.3/4/8 and VIII, DOT 192/5, NFPA, NACE).
- Communicate effectively with internal and external team members, including safety, environmental, operations, construction, commercial, land/ROW, and third-party contractors.
- Manage projects through the entire lifecycle: feasibility studies, Front End Loading cost estimates, AFE generation, detailed engineering and design, contractor scoping/bidding/management, commissioning, as-built drawings, and pre-startup safety reviews.
- Proactively identify opportunities to enhance safety, mechanical reliability, operational flexibility, and capacity.
- Ensure compliance with Targa design, construction, safety, and environmental standards and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- BS degree in Chemical Engineering from a 4-year accredited university.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a project engineer and/or process engineer in natural gas plants processing, construction, and/or operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel at least 25% of the time.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5–10 years of experience in natural gas plants processing, construction, and/or operations.
- Experience with acid gas handling and process equipment.
- Process simulation and pipeline modeling experience with ProMax.
- Experience with rotating equipment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project.
- 5+ years of experience in project engineering, process engineering, and/or project management.
Work Environment
- Ability to work in changing climate conditions and a plant environment.
- Able to work in close quarters (e.g., kneeling, squatting, sitting, climbing, standing).
- Follow and adhere to all applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines (e.g., eye protection, footwear, hard hat, FRC).
- Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.

Pay
Anticipated salary range: $132K – $168K.
