Project Manager/Engineer - Water Treatment

About the role

The Project Manager/Engineer – Water Treatment will be responsible for the full life cycle of water treatment systems on projects, exhibiting a high level of attention to detail, adept time management skills, and a “lead from the front” attitude. This role requires sustained project-based travel within the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Plan, lead, and direct work in a safe and compliant manner.
• Read water quality analytics and produce block flow diagrams for the type of system needed based on influent analytical results and effluent discharge criteria using AutoCAD software.
• Generate water treatment system mass balance using Excel.
• Develop water treatment system process piping, instrumentation, and treatment drawings in AutoCAD.
• Generate water treatment system process equipment layout drawings and piping isometrics to construct the system.
• Perform water treatment equipment selection and develop equipment electrical schedules in Excel.
• Perform jar tests with various coagulants and flocculants to determine best chemical feed rates for the water treatment system.
• Generate estimates for the water treatment system for mobilization, construction, commissioning, operation, and demobilization using Excel.
• Generate request for proposal documents, including bidders list, statement of work, bid form, and instruction to bidder’s letter using Word and Excel templates.
• Develop schedules for water treatment system mobilization, construction, commissioning, operation, and demobilization using Microsoft Project or Primavera.
• Oversee the construction/set-up of the system onsite and train ENTACT operators on how to run and maintain the system.
• Analyze water treatment system process issues and provide solutions.
• Work with the project team and vendors to meet project goals and objectives during the preconstruction phase.
• Review vendor and subcontractor solicitations and analyze bids through generation of bid abstracts using Excel.
• Make technical recommendations to the proposal and project team that provide value-engineered approaches for water treatment system processes and subcomponent applications.
• Travel and oversee projects across the United States as needed.
• Work unsupervised and meet agreed-upon deadlines.
• Acquire NPDES State-specific Operator licenses upon request.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical, civil, or environmental engineering.
• Proven track record with extensive experience in water treatment systems for environmental remediation projects.
• Extensive experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Competence in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project software.
• HAZWOPER and OSHA training required.
• Valid Driver’s license with no restrictions that interfere with job requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Teams.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, set priorities, and balance multiple projects simultaneously.
• Professionalism and ethical conduct in building relationships with senior management, colleagues, vendors, subcontractors, and clients.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to clients.

Environmental Conditions

• Work primarily performed outdoors on construction sites or in onsite office spaces.
• Rugged and potentially difficult-to-navigate terrain.

• Noisy work environments controlled to levels at or below exposure limits.
• Exposure to contaminated atmospheres (e.g., fumes, vapors, lead dust, H₂S) controlled to levels at or below exposure limits.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

• Hard hat, hearing protection (ear plugs or muffs), eye protection (safety glasses, goggles, face shield).
• Welder’s helmet, safety vest, various types of gloves (leather, Nitrile, latex), steel toe boots.
• Various respiratory protection (dust masks, half face and full face respirators, SCBAs, APRs) depending on site conditions.
• Respirator use may require the user to be clean-shaven.
• Protective coveralls (cotton, Tyvek, fire retardant, chemical protective).
