Project Manager – Digital Platform Engineering - 17582
Overview
The scope of Platform Engineering has expanded significantly to support platform modernization, decommissioning initiatives, production stability, operational governance, risk and compliance activities, security engagements, vendor coordination, and strategic enterprise programs. A dedicated Project Manager III is needed to provide centralized coordination, prioritization, stakeholder engagement, meeting representation, and execution oversight, enabling engineering leaders to focus on technical strategy, architecture, delivery, and innovation while improving visibility, accountability, and operational effectiveness across the portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Provide the Platform Engineering team with general project management support for various internal Digital initiatives and external requests.
- Cook up and manage a portfolio of Platform Engineering team initiatives, including platform modernization, application decommissioning, operational improvements, risk remediation, security initiatives, and strategic technology efforts.
- Partner with engineering leaders, architects, product teams, risk, compliance, security, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment, visibility, and timely execution of priorities.
- Lead planning, tracking, and coordination activities for decommissioning initiatives, including dependency management, stakeholder communication, risk identification, milestone tracking, and status reporting.
- Represent Platform Engineering in enterprise governance forums, risk and security reviews, compliance discussions, operational readiness meetings, and other cross-functional engagements.
- Facilitate prioritization discussions across operational, strategic, compliance, and modernization initiatives to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and resource capacity.
- Maintain visibility into team commitments, risks, dependencies, and competing priorities, escalating issues, and recommending mitigation strategies as appropriate.
- Drive meeting coordination, action item management, decision tracking, and follow-up activities to ensure accountability and progress across initiatives.
- Develop executive-ready communications, status updates, dashboards, briefings, and reporting materials for leadership and stakeholders.
- May also assist the Platform Engineering leadership team in developing briefings that showcase team capabilities and contributions to the larger organization.
- Cook up intake, assessment, and tracking of ad hoc requests impacting Platform Engineering, ensuring work is prioritized and aligned with business objectives.
- Monitor initiative health, project milestones, and key deliverables to ensure successful execution and timely completion.
- Collaborate with vendors and external partners as needed to support platform initiatives and operational objectives.
- Support annual planning, roadmap development, capacity planning, and cross-team dependency management.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, governance, reporting, and operational effectiveness across the Platform Engineering organization and work with teams to address gaps.
- Serve as a trusted partner to Platform Engineering leadership, enabling technical leaders to focus on architecture, engineering, delivery, innovation, and talent development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Information Technology, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- 3-5 years of prior experience as a project manager or program manager
- Experience working in an Agile software development environment and with the Scrum and/or SAFe frameworks
- Familiarity with Cloud technologies and services, preferably Microsoft Azure Cloud, Azure DevOps and ServiceNow
- Possess problem-solving and deductive reasoning skills and the ability to understand functional and technical system information
- Advanced organizational, planning and time management skills and ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Experience working with, participating in and leading, cross-functional, multi-dimensional teams and projects
- Detail-oriented and the ability to work with stakeholders to prioritize work, manage concurrent priorities, and meet deadlines
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to present findings, conclusions, alternatives, and information clearly and concisely to all levels of staff, management, and stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships through rapport, trust, diplomacy, and tact
