The Role
The Account Manager serves as the primary relationship owner for assigned clients, ensuring a positive client experience and long-term account health. This role is responsible for understanding client needs, maintaining awareness of contractual commitments, identifying potential risks, and fostering strong communication between clients and internal teams.
Unlike a project management role focused on day-to-day execution, the Account Manager takes a higher-level view of the client relationship focusing on satisfaction, alignment, strategic planning, and long-term partnership growth.
What Your Day Will Look Like
- Serve as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for assigned client accounts.
- Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships based on trust, transparency, and accountability.
- Develop a deep understanding of client contracts, scopes of work, service expectations, and business objectives.
- Facilitate regular client meetings, executive check-ins, and business reviews to ensure alignment and satisfaction.
- Monitor account health, client feedback, and potential risks, proactively addressing concerns before they escalate.
- Collaborate with internal leadership, project teams, and support functions to ensure client expectations align with service delivery.
- Communicate client feedback and opportunities for improvement to internal stakeholders.
- Support contract renewals, account growth opportunities, and strategic planning efforts.
- Maintain accurate documentation of account history, key decisions, and client preferences.
- Partner with finance and operations teams regarding forecasting, invoicing, and contract-related discussions.
- Advocate for both the client and internal teams by balancing expectations, capacity, and contractual commitments.
- Able to travel approximately 25% to foster strong client partnerships, support key meetings, and maintain account success.
Requirements
- Essentials To Succeed:
- Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of experience in the electric utility industry.
- Demonstrated success managing client relationships and serving as a trusted business partner.
- Strong understanding of contracts, scopes of work, service agreements, and client expectations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to navigate challenging conversations, build consensus, and influence without direct authority.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, and SharePoint.
- Valid driver's license.

- Familiarity working alongside project managers, project controls, or service delivery teams.
- PMP, CAPM, contract management, client relationship management, or leadership training.
- Experience presenting to executive-level stakeholders and facilitating strategic discussions.
