The Role

The Account Manager serves as the primary relationship owner for assigned clients, ensuring a positive client experience and long-term account health. This role is responsible for understanding client needs, maintaining awareness of contractual commitments, identifying potential risks, and fostering strong communication between clients and internal teams.

Unlike a project management role focused on day-to-day execution, the Account Manager takes a higher-level view of the client relationship focusing on satisfaction, alignment, strategic planning, and long-term partnership growth.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for assigned client accounts.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships based on trust, transparency, and accountability.
  • Develop a deep understanding of client contracts, scopes of work, service expectations, and business objectives.
  • Facilitate regular client meetings, executive check-ins, and business reviews to ensure alignment and satisfaction.
  • Monitor account health, client feedback, and potential risks, proactively addressing concerns before they escalate.
  • Collaborate with internal leadership, project teams, and support functions to ensure client expectations align with service delivery.
  • Communicate client feedback and opportunities for improvement to internal stakeholders.
  • Support contract renewals, account growth opportunities, and strategic planning efforts.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of account history, key decisions, and client preferences.
  • Partner with finance and operations teams regarding forecasting, invoicing, and contract-related discussions.
  • Advocate for both the client and internal teams by balancing expectations, capacity, and contractual commitments.
  • Able to travel approximately 25% to foster strong client partnerships, support key meetings, and maintain account success.

Requirements

  • Essentials To Succeed:
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of experience in the electric utility industry.
  • Demonstrated success managing client relationships and serving as a trusted business partner.
  • Strong understanding of contracts, scopes of work, service agreements, and client expectations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to navigate challenging conversations, build consensus, and influence without direct authority.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, and SharePoint.
  • Valid driver's license.

What Will Make You Stand Out

  • Experience supporting utility clients, capital programs, or regulated industries.
  • Familiarity working alongside project managers, project controls, or service delivery teams.
  • PMP, CAPM, contract management, client relationship management, or leadership training.
  • Experience presenting to executive-level stakeholders and facilitating strategic discussions.
