Project Manager Civil / Electrical
About the Role
The Project Manager will manage projects across multiple disciplines, including Civil, Electric Substation, Distribution, and Transmission. Responsibilities encompass overall project planning, scheduling, resource allocation, project accounting, control, technical direction, and ensuring compliance with quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Chart project objectives and plans, set performance requirements, and select project participants.
- Optimize resource utilization (labor, materials, equipment) and ensure cost-effective procurement.
- Coordinate and implement project operations effectively.
- Develop communication mechanisms and resolve conflicts among participants.
- Oversee construction projects from start to finish.
- Lead project planning, budgeting, and identification of required resources.
- Ensure a safe workplace and promote safety standards.
- Create teams, define objectives/goals, and assign responsibilities.
- Manage project accounting, including budget tracking, expense management, and risk minimization.
- Ensure construction activities adhere to predetermined schedules.
- Devise and revise project work plans as needed.
- Communicate effectively with contractors for various project phases.
- Coordinate efforts among engineers, consultants, contractors, sub-contractors, and laborers.
- Monitor construction progress and hold regular status meetings.
- Maintain strict adherence to budgetary guidelines, quality, and safety standards.
- Conduct periodic inspections of construction sites.
- Ensure project documents are complete.
- Identify potential design and construction elements that may lead to disputes or claims.
- Serve as a key client liaison and review deliverables before client submission.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline (preferred).
- Minimum 6 years of experience in construction projects.
- Ability to create and maintain CPM schedules using Microsoft Project.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications.
- Thorough knowledge of legal issues and safety standards.
- Strong planning, organizational, and team leadership abilities.
- Excellent client management and relationship-building skills.
- Capacity to motivate and lead teams while maintaining morale.
- Effective time management and decision-making under pressure.
- Willingness to travel to remote construction sites (approximately 30% travel, primarily within Illinois).
- Valid driver’s license.

Physical Demands
The role requires regular communication (talking/hearing) and frequent standing, walking, and use of hands to handle tools or controls. The employee may occasionally be exposed to fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation affecting the respiratory system or skin.
