Project Manager, Business Transformation and Implementation

Target salary: Approximately $130,000–$150,000 base + annual performance bonus. Preferred locations: New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, or the Chicago metropolitan area. Travel: 30% to 50%. Hybrid work arrangement with regular travel to Metropolitan facilities, customer locations, and implementation sites.

About the Role

As the Project Manager, Business Transformation and Implementation, you will lead strategic enterprise initiatives that modernize Metropolitan Warehouse and Delivery's operations, technology, and customer experience. This highly visible role requires exceptional project management, leadership, and organizational skills. You will partner closely with Operations, IT, Engineering, Finance, Sales, Customer Success, HR, and Executive Leadership to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with Metropolitan's strategic objectives.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment, is comfortable managing multiple complex initiatives simultaneously, and can effectively balance strategic planning with hands-on execution.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise-wide implementation projects including Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Returns Management Systems (RMS), Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Business Intelligence platforms, and other strategic technology initiatives.
• Develop and maintain integrated project plans, schedules, milestones, dependencies, resource plans, and project budgets.
• Coordinate new warehouse and distribution center launches from planning through operational go-live, including facilities, IT, equipment, staffing, inventory migration, customer onboarding, and operational readiness.
• Manage customer implementation projects, ensuring successful onboarding, integration, testing, training, and operational transition.
• Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between Operations, IT, Engineering, Finance, HR, Sales, Customer Success, and external vendors.
• Establish project governance including Steering Committee meetings, executive dashboards, RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) logs, action registers, and status reporting.
• Identify project risks and develop mitigation plans to minimize schedule, operational, and customer impacts.
• Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT), system testing, cutover planning, hypercare activities, and post-implementation stabilization.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on operational efficiency, quality, customer experience, automation, and standardization.
• Develop and maintain standardized project management methodologies, templates, documentation, and implementation playbooks.
• Support executive leadership with project reporting, milestone reviews, resource planning, and strategic recommendations.
• Coordinate vendor relationships and implementation partners to ensure contractual commitments, deliverables, and timelines are achieved.
• Facilitate project meetings, workshops, decision sessions, and executive presentations.
• Monitor project financial performance including implementation costs, capital expenditures, and budget adherence.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Information Systems, Operations Management, or a related field, or equivalent related work experience.
• PMP certification preferred.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred.
• 7+ years of project or program management experience leading enterprise initiatives.
• Experience implementing Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), ERP, RMS, TMS, or similar enterprise platforms.
• Experience managing distribution center startups, warehouse expansions, or operational implementations.
• Experience within logistics, transportation, supply chain, warehousing, or third-party logistics (3PL).
• Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams without direct reporting authority.
• Experience managing external vendors, implementation partners, consultants, and technology providers.
• Experience managing multiple concurrent projects exceeding $1M in implementation value preferred.
• Strong executive communication and presentation experience.
• Experience developing project governance, executive reporting, and implementation methodologies.
• Experience with change management, organizational readiness, and operational process improvement.
