Responsibilities
- Manage and execute complex projects, from pre-design through construction administration, on schedule and within budget
- Ensure efficient and cost-effective project execution
- Develop, gain consensus, and deliver upon project work plans, schedules, and fee proposals
- Prepare strategic plans with defined scope expectations
- Manage contracts, billings, and add services with clients and consultants
- Proactively budget and forecast project costs, labor costs, and design scope increases
- Staff and oversee project team assignments and schedules
- Mentor and oversee the work of future project managers and other staff members
- Liaise with marketing, business development, and communications to pursue work and steward brand
- Serve as primary client liaison, managing communications and documentation
- Collaborate with firm partners on strategic planning, positioning, and nurturing client relationships
- Proactively research, identify, and qualify new clients, markets, and project opportunities
- Contact potential clients to establish a relationship and introduce the appropriate creative/account leaders
- Collaborate with marketing team to develop winning collateral, proposals, and presentations
Requirements
- Professional Degree in Architecture (BArch / MArch)
- Minimum 10 years of industry experience, with proven project management and leadership skills
- Certification as a licensed professional in architecture, ideally in California
- PREFERRED: Some experience with interior architecture, including workplace
- LEED and/or WELL accreditation preferred
- Ability to lead projects with team members located across different offices
- Experience managing mid- to large-scale projects
- Excellent writing, editing, communication, and public speaking skills
- Strategic thinking: ability to understand a prospective client’s needs, as well as identify competitive differentiators, and execute winning strategies
- Entrepreneurial spirit: ability to work both independently and in collaboration with diverse stakeholders
- Energetic, competitive spirit: driven to win and able to lead with optimism and persistence
- Strong track record of success managing key initiatives and meeting goals
- Experience permitting projects through local Authorities-Having-Jurisdiction
- Strong knowledge of local building codes
- Excellent Revit skills required
- Proficiency in Rhino, Sketchup, and Adobe Creative Suite – or a variety of conceptual design, rendering, and presentation graphics software platforms
