Project Manager

About the role

This is a hands-on, field-focused leadership role for someone who understands generator installations and can bring structure, accountability, and strong communication to a growing five-person department in Central Florida.

Responsibilities

• Lead commercial generator installation projects from handoff through completion, keeping scope, schedule, budget, and quality on track.
• Direct and support field personnel while partnering closely with an Install Coordinator who helps keep projects moving.
• Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, customers, materials, equipment, and internal resources across multiple active jobs.
• Spend approximately 70% of your time visiting jobsites and 30% working from the Ocala office.
• Build realistic project schedules, monitor progress, and address delays or roadblocks before they become larger problems.
• Serve as a key point of contact for customers, providing clear updates and setting expectations throughout each project.
• Review job requirements, material needs, change orders, invoices, punch lists, and closeout documentation.
• Coordinate procurement and delivery of generators, electrical equipment, and other long-lead materials.
• Hold employees, subcontractors, and vendors accountable for deadlines, workmanship, safety, and follow-through.
• Identify project risks and work with the team to solve technical, scheduling, and operational issues.
• Help strengthen processes, organization, communication, and accountability as the installation department continues to grow.

Requirements

• 3+ years of relevant project management, installation management, field leadership, or similar experience.
• Direct professional experience with generators and generator installation projects.
• Enough technical generator knowledge to communicate credibly with technicians, electricians, subcontractors, vendors, and customers.
• Strong leadership skills with a calm, professional approach to managing people and solving problems.
• Excellent organization and the ability to manage several projects and priorities at the same time.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including confidence working directly with customers.
• Experience managing project schedules, budgets, materials, vendors, subcontractors, and field execution.
• Willingness to work fully on-site and in the field. This is not a remote or work-from-home position.
• Ability to regularly travel to jobsites throughout the region.

Nice-to-Haves

• Florida electrical contractor license or another relevant electrical credential.
• Spanish language skills.
• Experience with commercial or industrial standby generator systems.
• Familiarity with automatic transfer switches, commissioning, load bank testing, or related emergency power equipment.
• Experience working for an electrical contractor, generator dealer, power systems company, or specialty construction business.
• Proficiency with Excel and project management software.
