About the role
Support the efficiency of the corrugator operations in the Tennessee River Area, reporting to the Area Vice President. This role will foster strong relationships with internal customers (Sales, Design, etc.) and external customers. 50-60% travel to Smurfit Westrock facilities in Alabama, Tennessee, and Mississippi as needed.
Responsibilities
- Support new technology (including software, hardware, and new systems).
- Be an active participant in the process and assume ultimate training responsibility for the team.
- Support and participate in process improvements as required.
- Direct and participate in launches, special project pricing, project management, and other projects as required.
- Plan and schedule any installation and startup of new equipment to minimize disruption of normal operations.
- Develop hands-on knowledge and expertise of production equipment, parts, functions, and processes through observation and engaging with employees on the production floor.
- Communicate with the production team and maintenance staff to resolve chronic and repeat failures with equipment, provide status updates on maintenance efforts, and gather feedback on operations and maintenance support needed.
- Partner with training resources to maintain detailed, structured on-the-job training manuals for department tasks and jobs.
- Participate in production meetings with General Manager, Maintenance Manager, Operations Managers, and Schedulers to review weekly scheduling and outage planning.
- Support and foster a culture of safety and environmental compliance.
Requirements
- A High School diploma or G.E.D. is required; an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- 5 to 10 years of experience in the manufacturing industry in operations, with experience in corrugated container plants is required.
- Previous Continuous Improvement and/or Project Management experience is required.
- Direct supervisory or management experience is preferred; experience in a functional role influencing others is required.
- Working knowledge of corrugated manufacturing equipment, processes, and language is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, etc.).
