About the role

The Project Manager is responsible for planning, estimating, coordinating, and overseeing industrial maintenance, welding, fabrication, and material handling projects from initial job walk through completion. This position requires strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, customer satisfaction, and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct job walks and site evaluations to assess project scope, identify customer needs, and develop project plans.
  • Prepare detailed project estimates, including labor hours, material requirements, equipment needs, subcontractor coordination, and project timelines.
  • Manage multiple industrial maintenance and material handling projects simultaneously while ensuring projects remain on schedule and within budget.
  • Supervise and lead field crews of 10–15 employees, providing direction, support, and accountability throughout each project.
  • Coordinate closely with the Operations Team to schedule manpower, equipment, and materials.
  • Maintain regular communication with customers regarding project status, scheduling, and any scope changes.
  • Review project drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure work is completed accurately.
  • Provide technical support and problem-solving during project execution.
  • Monitor project costs, labor productivity, and quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and customer safety requirements.
  • Travel to customer sites as required (approximately 40% travel).
  • Complete project documentation, reports, and other administrative duties using Microsoft Office applications.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in an industrial maintenance environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of welding, fabrication, and material handling systems.
  • Experience estimating industrial projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and scheduling.
  • Proven experience managing field crews of 10–15 employees.
  • Ability to work independently with little to no supervision.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Excellent customer service and relationship-building abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and engineering documents.
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel approximately 40%.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of a wide variety of industrial manufacturing facilities, including distribution centers, manufacturing plants, warehouses, food processing facilities, and heavy industrial operations.
  • Experience with conveyors, automated material handling equipment, structural steel, mechanical installation, and industrial maintenance projects.
  • Previous experience in field service project management.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk active industrial jobsites for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work around industrial equipment, and navigate manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Work Environment

This position is performed in both office and industrial field environments. The Project Manager will regularly visit customer facilities, construction sites, manufacturing plants, and warehouses where exposure to noise, moving equipment, dust, heat, and other industrial conditions is common.
