Project Manager

About the role

MBP is seeking new Team Members in the Metropolitan Washington, DC area to assist in anticipating and solving unprecedented engineering complexities, determining program objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guidelines for diverse engineering activities. This role supports projects during all phases of execution including preconstruction, design, procurement, construction, and closeout.

Responsibilities

• Manage a project’s overall effort for the client, including assisting in managing a team and coordinating the work of various project entities (designer, contractor, owner personnel).
• Assist in preparation, monitoring, and managing client project budgets and internal budgets.
• Analyze and optimize internal and external processes.
• Maintain positive and productive working relationships with peer leaders, superiors, and subordinates.
• Document and track issues until resolution, collaborating with the owner, designer, and contractor to resolve issues as they arise.
• Coordinate punchlist and acceptance with the designer and other project stakeholders.
• Monitor and verify completion of closeout requirements, including owner training, operations and maintenance manuals, warranties, and stock materials.
• Use Revit (BIM), AutoCAD, Archibus, Maximo, and related systems to implement policies and procedures for improved data management.
• Mentor and facilitate the transfer of technical knowledge to staff.
• Manage, direct, and coordinate the work of assigned staff, monitoring progress, utilization, and quality of work.
• Conduct site visits, identify potential engineering problems, and propose solutions and alternatives.
• Provide subject matter technical engineering expertise and assist in reviewing technical work of others.
• Adjust workload to changes and work to meet deadlines.
• Engage in business development, participate in marketing activities, and assist in providing project management on small to mid-size projects.
• Prepare, monitor, and manage client project budgets, working closely with project accountants to manage individual multipliers, utilization forecasts, and project margins.
• Attend and participate in professional association meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in civil engineering.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Education and/or experience in project/construction management.
• Experience with BIM Implementation, management of record documentation, and project closeout is preferred.
• Master’s degree in an industry-related field preferred.
• Professional registration and job-relevant certifications such as CCM, CCE, or advanced specialized technical knowledge are strongly preferred.
• Detailed knowledge of construction, principles of construction management, and project controls, with specialized knowledge in scheduling, cost estimating, documentation, contract administration, and construction techniques.
• Some knowledge of personnel and project management techniques including budgeting, leadership, training, and business development.

Skills

• Expertise with MBP's diverse services and direct client contact.
• Operates at expert level in one or more service areas with responsibility for final work product.
• Capable of managing multiple assignments simultaneously and managing a small project team.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
• Proficient in Revit (BIM), AutoCAD, Archibus, and related software systems.
• Ability to analyze and optimize internal and external processes.
• Able to stand, sit, climb ladders, work at heights, and work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions.
• Ability to safely navigate construction work sites with uneven terrain.

Guidance & Responsibility

• Generally able to work independently and determine solutions.
• Provide training to less experienced personnel.
• Assist in managing the profitability of projects and their forecasted budgets.
• Receives overall guidance on emphasis and approach.
• Capable of supervising individuals and teams.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $115,000 to $130,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on work location, qualifications, experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training.
