Project Manager
About the role
We are seeking an Engineering Project Manager at the NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston, TX. The role involves overseeing and leading the CHeCS components of the Environmental Health System (EHS) and Health Maintenance System (HMS), managing technical scope, budget, and schedule, and interfacing with contract and customer stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Perform project management and subtask lead responsibilities in the HHPC2 Engineering Department’s Project Management Group representing the contract for the Crew Health Care System (CHeCS) sustaining, resupply, and integration project for the International Space Station (ISS) Program.
- Provide oversight and lead the CHeCS components of the Environmental Health System (EHS) and Health Maintenance System (HMS).
- Lead major hardware/software activities for flight units, ground systems, off-site laboratory equipment, accessories, and unique testing equipment and will be required to perform integration of Engineering Department disciplines, Quality, Bond, and Logistics on a weekly basis.
- Support multi-year Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) by providing inputs to support planning and execution.
- Manage expectations and communication with contract and customer stakeholders including organization of regular meetings to support successful product delivery.
- Develop and manage documents and products for human spaceflight including plans, requirements, safety, flight certification, and hardware delivery.
- Organize and lead internal engineering meetings to support schedule development and maintenance, mitigate potential issues and develop client-friendly solutions in coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in ISO/AS9100 Audits.
Requirements
- You bring experience leading a multi-disciplinary team, interfacing with contract upper management and support organizations, and interfacing with NASA customers and Programs.
- You use your experience and judgment to guide and focus the team to meet contract deliverables while working within defined scope and proactively seek guidance from contract leadership when needed.
- You comply with KBR’s Safety, Health and Environmental Plan, Quality Plan, and all safety policies and procedures, and complete all assigned training.
- Your Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, science, or project management, 5+ years’ experience as a project manager, project engineer, systems engineer, subtask lead, or similar role in the aerospace industry, previous working experience with NASA or a NASA contractor, experience in customer interfacing role, experience and understanding of configuration management for documentation and hardware/software, and experience leading negotiations with subcontractors/vendors and completing procurement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, science, or project management
- 5+ years’ experience as a project manager, project engineer, systems engineer, subtask lead, or similar role in the aerospace industry
- Previous working experience with NASA or a NASA contractor
- Experience in customer interfacing role
- Experience and understanding of configuration management for documentation and hardware/software
- Experience leading negotiations with subcontractors/vendors and completing procurement

What to Expect
This position is expected to be in person for a minimum of 4 days per week. Occasional travel may be required.
