About the Role

Oversee construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget. Provide comprehensive project management and general management support across a range of engineering projects in the automotive sector. Work with the Engineering Manager and Sales Manager to grow the business and maximize opportunities in the sector/region.

Responsibilities

  • Manage jobsites for new installations and/or relocations of equipment/systems in high-pressure, quality production/manufacturing environments.
  • Plan, control, and monitor projects internally and directly with clients.
  • Provide accurate project reporting to the Operations Manager.
  • Maintain daily and weekly records and documentation.
  • Produce estimates for change orders on the project.
  • Liaise between client jobsite personnel and the B&P Operations Manager; provide meeting minutes of site meetings.
  • Achieve high profit levels through effective contract management, cost tracking, and financial control.
  • Ensure efficient utilization of labor resources, sub-contractors, equipment, and plant suppliers.
  • Report contract performance regularly; identify and report potential opportunities, variations, and risks.
  • Develop positive relationships with clients and end-users.
  • Ensure projects comply with Safety, Quality, and Company systems/procedures.
  • Maintain non-conformance and punch-list records; manage resolution and completion.
  • Receive and document vendor-supplied goods.
  • Conduct on-boarding and site-specific training for workers.
  • Enable effective internal and external communication.
  • Assist in improving on-site contract controls, labor management, and engineering standards.

Requirements

  • Experience managing mechanical and electrical engineering projects, particularly installations of production equipment.
  • Strong general experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Commercial and project management skills: negotiating, planning, estimating, costing, and quoting.
  • Strong IT (MS Office) and numeracy skills.
  • Experience managing small teams and controlling internal labor resources/sub-contractors.
  • Knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation and Risk Management processes.
  • Good financial skills, including cost/budgetary controls and accounting procedures.
  • Project Management qualification or specific training.
  • Ability to secure a contractor’s license(s) for the company.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills at technical and professional levels.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts simply and succinctly.
  • Solution-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet demanding deadlines.
  • Confidence and assertiveness in team environments and with people at all levels.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills for multiple tasks.
  • Ability to build strong business relationships with key clients.

Work Environment

A combination of office work and travel to jobsites. Must be willing to work at the corporate office in Spartanburg, SC, and travel to jobsites throughout the U.S.
