Project Manager
About the role
This Project Manager role focuses on overseeing commercial and industrial warehouse construction projects within a general contracting environment. You will manage design-build and ground-up projects, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and in alignment with project specifications and client expectations.
The role operates in a mixed on-site and hybrid work environment. You will spend significant time on active construction sites collaborating with superintendents, engineers, and field teams, while also performing planning, coordination, and documentation tasks in an office or remote setting. Site work requires appropriate safety attire and adherence to all safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end project management for commercial and industrial warehouse construction projects, including both design-build and ground-up work.
- Coordinate and manage all phases of design-build warehouse projects, ensuring seamless collaboration between design, engineering, and construction teams.
- Oversee project planning, scheduling, and execution, maintaining clear timelines and milestones for multiple concurrent projects.
- Review and interpret construction documents, drawings, and specifications to guide field activities and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Manage change orders, requests for information (RFIs), and other project documentation to maintain accurate records and control scope, schedule, and budget impacts.
- Collaborate closely with superintendents and construction supervision staff to ensure daily site operations run safely and efficiently.
- Monitor construction safety practices on site, promote a strong safety culture, and ensure adherence to all relevant safety standards and procedures.
- Coordinate with project engineering teams, including mechanical and electrical disciplines, to resolve technical issues and support effective design implementation.
- Work with estimation teams to review and validate project estimates, budgets, and cost projections, providing input based on field and design-build experience.
- Communicate proactively with stakeholders, including internal teams and external partners, to provide project updates and address risks or issues promptly.
- Ensure quality control throughout the project lifecycle, verifying that construction work meets design intent, engineering standards, and client expectations.
- Support warehouse management considerations within project planning, ensuring that facility design aligns with operational requirements and industrial best practices.
- Utilize tools such as AutoCAD and other construction-related software to review plans, support design coordination, and assist with project documentation.
- Switch effectively between design-build warehouse projects and ground-up construction projects as needed, maintaining consistent standards of delivery across all assignments.
Requirements
- Proven experience working for a general contractor in commercial or industrial construction.
- Hands-on experience managing design-build warehouse construction projects.
- Exposure to ground-up construction projects, with the ability to transition between design-build and ground-up work.
- Strong project management skills, including planning, scheduling, coordination, and execution of construction projects.
- Experience with construction management and construction supervision in a commercial or industrial setting.
- Knowledge of general contractor operations and processes in commercial construction.
- Ability to read, interpret, and work from construction documents, drawings, and specifications.
- Experience handling change orders, RFIs, and other project documentation in a construction environment.
- Familiarity with commercial construction, warehouse construction, and industrial construction practices.
- Understanding of engineering concepts relevant to construction projects, including mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with superintendents, project engineers, and construction supervision teams.
- Commitment to construction safety and the ability to promote and support safe work practices on site.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD for reviewing and coordinating design and construction documents.
- Experience with estimation processes and the ability to support project cost planning and budgeting.
Qualifications
- Background in project coordination or project engineering within construction.
- Experience working on both design-focused and field-focused aspects of construction projects.
- Knowledge of industrial facility and warehouse operations, supporting effective design-build planning.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and switch between different project types as needed.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Detail-oriented approach to documentation, quality control, and project record-keeping.
- Problem-solving skills to address technical, scheduling, and coordination challenges during construction.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $60.00 per hour. Individual compensation offered within this range will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
