About the role
As the Project Manager, you will support AGU’s mission by planning and delivering projects that meet scope, schedule, budget, quality, and performance expectations. You will coordinate execution, implementation, and completion of assigned projects, including developing project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource needs. This role ensures projects align with organizational priorities and that changes to scope, schedule, or budget are documented and communicated. You will collaborate with sponsors, customers, and stakeholders to define objectives, requirements, deliverables, and success measures.
Responsibilities
- Manage projects from initiation through completion using established PMO processes and tools.
- Collaborate with sponsors, customers, and cross-functional teams to define scope, objectives, success criteria, requirements, and deliverables.
- Identify stakeholders and develop communication and engagement approaches to keep them informed.
- Develop project deliverables, resource requirements, work plans, budgets, schedules, and success measures with sponsors and team members.
- Maintain project plans, schedules, budgets, communication plans, risk registers, decision logs, and status reports.
- Organize and coordinate project activities, meetings, dependencies, and deliverables for timely execution.
- Monitor project budgets, forecast expenses, and communicate variances to sponsors and leadership.
- Identify resource needs and secure staff, contractors, or consultants for successful delivery.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams, ensuring clear roles, responsibilities, expectations, and deadlines.
- Provide clear, accurate, and timely status updates on progress, risks, issues, decisions, budgets, and upcoming activities.
- Monitor progress against scope, schedule, budget, quality, and performance requirements; take corrective action as needed.
- Identify, document, track, and resolve project risks, issues, dependencies, and barriers; escalate significant concerns.
- Manage changes to scope, schedule, budget, or deliverables through established change-control processes.
- Develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans for project risks and challenges.
- Assign and coordinate tasks, follow up on commitments, and promote accountability among team members.
- Facilitate productive meetings, resolve conflicts, and maintain progress toward outcomes.
- Build collaborative relationships with sponsors, team members, customers, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Support communication and knowledge sharing across teams and stakeholders.
- Ensure deliverables are reviewed, accepted, documented, and transitioned to operational owners.
- Conduct project closeout activities, including lessons-learned sessions and post-project evaluations.
- Recommend improvements to project processes, tools, and approaches to support PMO and organizational goals.
- Perform other duties as required within the scope of the role.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred, with 3+ years of experience in a related environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- PMP or industry equivalent certification preferred.
- Thorough understanding of project/program management techniques and methods.
- Experience in association management is preferred.
- General understanding of project portfolio management concepts.
- Knowledge of MS Office; working knowledge of project management software (Basecamp, MS Project, Monday.com, etc.) is advantageous.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $82,136 (minimum) to $136,894 (maximum), with a typical hiring range around the minimum to midpoint ($82,136–$109,515).
Schedule
This is a full-time, exempt, remote position open to candidates in most U.S. states (excluding WA, OR, and CA at this time).
