Project Management Specialist - Facilities/Construction

About the role

The SLAC Project Management Office is seeking a Project Management Specialist to support SLAC Infrastructure Projects by coordinating technical activities and planning and executing small minor projects. The role involves coordinating and liaising with a broad range of client groups and stakeholders, including SLAC scientific staff, operations organization, and other functional areas of the Project Office. This position reports to the Design and Construction Services Manager in the Project Management Office.

Responsibilities

• Manage small minor projects (under $1M) or more than one large task within a larger project from project initiation through completion with limited guidance; coordinate all technical activities on assigned projects.
• Review project plans and proposals, and work with project managers to develop project objectives; identify project responsibilities by determining the phases and elements of the project; calculate time frames and sequence the stages of the project.
• Oversee, coordinate, and perform technical aspects of a project, with guidance, based on the type of project manager support required (e.g., engineer, quality, scheduler).
• Assist project managers as directed on larger projects.
• Review, evaluate, approve, and monitor cost schedule and technical scope baselines.
• Ensure the preparation of required project documentation.
• Contribute to communication plan and change management elements.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid California non-commercial Class C Driver's License.
• Ability to drive day or night and comply with the California Vehicle Code and Stanford University driving requirements when conducting university business.
