About the role

The Project Lead Structured Cabling leads and supervises multiple structured cabling crews performing voice and data installation projects. They are responsible for overall project execution, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in compliance with company and customer quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership, mentoring, training, and performance oversight for Crew Leads and technicians.
  • Counsels and trains crew members on safety procedures and best practices.
  • Conducts weekly safety meetings and enforces adherence to company and customer safety requirements.
  • Coordinates closely with Project Managers to meet productivity goals, project deadlines, and budget expectations.
  • Completes and manages project documentation, including timesheets, work orders, material transfers, change orders, tool transfers, and other required paperwork.
  • Performs quality control inspections and oversees voice and data cross-connects, cut sheets, moves, and additions.
  • Produces and maintains red-lined as-built drawings and project records.
  • Serves as the primary on-site customer contact, addressing project questions, concerns, and coordinating with facility and construction teams.
  • Attends customer, facility, and construction meetings as required.
  • Demonstrates advanced technical knowledge in structured cabling systems and provides troubleshooting and resolution of installation issues.
  • Escalates project, personnel, or performance concerns to the Project Manager when necessary.
  • Supports additional project and operational responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Promotes the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients, and business partners.
  • Acts as the Company liaison for interface with customer representative(s).
  • Possesses proven problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills, and the ability to effectively read, write, and give oral presentations.
  • Able to stand and walk very large job sites regularly.
  • Able to work at various heights on a ladder and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.
  • Able to see and distinguish different colors, read the small print, and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones.
  • Able to travel within the branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.
  • Maintains regular attendance.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in telecommunications or related technical field.
  • Ability to terminate fiber.
  • Minimum of six (6) months of supervisory and/or managerial experience.
  • Proficient use of the tools listed above.
  • Proven skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to, specifications, reporting, and quality requirements.
  • Knowledge of the universal communications color codes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and MS Project).
  • Meets Company minimum driving standards.
