About the role

The Project Lead is the “voice of the customer” and responsible for the customer experience from the estimate to on-site delivery. This role ensures 100% customer satisfaction on all sales orders by driving activities from the point of sale to on-site delivery, including coordination with engineering, approval of submittals, scheduling with production, and on-site delivery with the customer and transportation. The Project Lead acts as the main point of contact for customers and vendors on assigned sales orders, monitors project costs, ensures compliance with contract documents, attends job meetings, and balances customer and company needs throughout the process.

This position will be located at our plant in Lombard, IL or Elgin, IL.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the “voice of the customer” within Oldcastle Infrastructure facilities.
  • Manage multiple sales orders concurrently.
  • Hold a Turnover/Kick Off meeting at the point of sale to ensure all needed information and paperwork are complete, scope of work is clear, estimate values are confirmed, and scheduling aligns with the “Customer Ship Date.”
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the customer, keeping them updated from production schedule to on-site delivery.
  • Provide direction and oversight to the project team, including engineering, production planning, transportation, procurement, and accounting.
  • Prepare change order proposals in a timely manner, whether initiated by the customer or internally.
  • Monitor project progress, proactively problem-solve, offer technical advice, and assist staff to expedite projects and remove obstacles.
  • Coordinate site visits and resolve issues from the point of sale to project completion, including change orders, schedule adjustments, and information collection.
  • Identify and requisition special purchase items as required.
  • Manage required submittals and approvals with the customer.
  • Communicate with the Transportation department regarding initial and follow-up delivery needs.
  • Work with other project managers and the plant manager to manage the long-term schedule and minimize operational conflicts.
  • Estimate projects and provide quotes to sales by bid dates.
  • Contact vendors for pricing as needed.
  • Work cross-functionally with sales, inside sales, operations, and management.
  • Promote continuous improvement of processes and systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (Civil Engineering preferred).
  • 3+ years of Project Management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage several large to small, complex projects simultaneously.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Ability to review and work from production schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience within the construction or precast concrete industry.
