Project Finance & Consulting Senior Associate
About the Role
CohnReznick is seeking a Project Finance & Consulting Senior Associate to join the team in our Boston office. This hybrid position supports the Project Finance & Consulting group, which provides tax credit and project finance-related due diligence, financial modeling, and other services to clients such as real estate developers and institutional investors. The role offers opportunities to broaden skills, work across industry groups, and collaborate with team members at all levels.
Responsibilities
- Generate comprehensive due diligence reports to assist clients in making informed investment decisions on affordable housing opportunities, including those involving the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit:
- Review and analyze financial projections, underwriting assumptions, and deal structures relative to industry standards.
- Assess strengths and weaknesses of counterparties.
- Review real estate closing documentation (e.g., partnership agreements, loan agreements, regulatory agreements).
- Evaluate fund managers by reviewing internal policies, corporate reports, business plans, financial statements, and portfolio performance.
- Develop financial models using accounting and finance tools for real estate transactions involving federal and state tax incentives (e.g., Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, Historic Tax Credits).
- Help clients optimize financial benefits and feasibility of real estate projects, including modeling economic and tax components of transactions.
- Support ad hoc consulting engagements, including producing industry research reports.
- Assist with transactional or consulting services for multifamily or commercial real estate projects.
Requirements
- 3 years of experience in financial modeling, financial analysis, or real estate.
- BS/BA degree in accounting, finance, or economics.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into work products.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to express complex concepts clearly in writing and verbally.
- Strong writing skills for developing narrative and summary reports for client deliverables.
- Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and multitask.
Experience with the affordable housing tax credit industry, real estate underwriting, or partnership tax concepts is a plus.

Pay
In Massachusetts, the salary range for this role is $90,000 to $120,000. Actual compensation will depend on skills, experience, qualifications, and location, in accordance with applicable employment laws.
Schedule
This is a hybrid position. While the cadence of in-office presence is determined at the team level, professionals are encouraged to be in the office an average of 3 days per week.
