About the role
The Project Engineer (PE) shall support the Project Manager (PM) and Superintendent (Supt) as required for them to meet their goals through all phases of a project.
Responsibilities
- Manage the submittal process
- Manage the RFI process
- Manage the change order proposal process
- Provide research, backup support, legwork, data entry etc. as requested by the PM and Supt
- Complete budget revisions and modifications in Viewpoint as required throughout the job
- Assist to maintain a high level of safety in alignment with Abbott's core values
- Combine knowledge of engineering methods, construction methods and human management skills
- Support planning, scheduling and coordinating projects to meet deadlines
- Support the estimating department by soliciting subcontractors for projects as well as managing and distributing plans
- Act as the main point of contact for subcontractors as requested by the Project Manager
- Act as a Project Manager when a Project Manager is unavailable
Required Skills
- Strong negotiation and leadership skills
- Understands accounting, financial statements, job cost, and cash flow
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to pass a drug test
- 4-year degree in a construction related major
- Motivated for a long-term career in construction
- 2 years' project engineering experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in healthcare construction
- Experience managing multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced construction environment
- A focus on following processes and procedures
- Taking ownership of the role
- Comfort with difficult conversations and relaying bad news when required
Pay
The full salary range for this position is $78,000 to $105,000. This position is eligible for a target bonus.

Note: Sick leave accrues at one (1) hour for every 30 hours worked. Accrual for sick leave is capped at 240 hours. At the end of each calendar year, you will be allowed to carry over accrued and unused sick leave up to 240 hours. You will not begin accruing sick leave until you drop below the accrual cap.
