About the role

Stantec's multi-disciplinary office in Sarasota, Florida has an opportunity for an experienced Project Engineer Site / Civil Engineering. We are seeking a candidate with experience in professional practice and design related to land development / community development.

Responsibilities

  • Performing all aspects of civil engineering design including layout/geometry, grading, drainage, paving, water, sewer, and erosion control.
  • Projects may include land development (all types/sectors), roadway/intersection design, preparation of construction plans and related design reports.
  • Preparing complete submission packages, supporting calculations, cost estimates, project schedules, and other duties.
  • Engages in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
  • Utilizes technologies in development of three dimensional models of civil systems and provides markups for junior engineers/designers.
  • Prepares and revises documentation in various civil phases including site plans, and details.
  • Leads project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors.
  • Participates in client project requirement meetings and value analysis, and basic cost estimating.
  • Aids Project Manager with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule.
  • Leads the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents.
  • Performs and oversees the performance of calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
  • Conducts quality assurance and quality control on own projects.
  • Aids in the development of new standards and specifications for the civil group.

Qualifications

  • Ability to perform all aspects of design (grading, streets, water, sewer, storm drain, hydrology, erosion control, etc.) with an emphasis on technical and project delivery excellence.
  • Sound knowledge of industry practice and demonstrated commitment to excellence in customer service.
  • Experience with both private and public sector clients/projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent oral, written and graphic communication skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil3D, Hydrology / Hydraulic design software, Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Direct experience in client management and business development is an asset.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in the profession of Civil Engineering civil/site design.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in FL or ability to obtain within 6 months.
