Position Overview

IDS Engineering Group is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer or Project Manager with 2–6 years of experience in Public Works projects within Harris County and surrounding areas. This position involves the planning, design, and delivery of municipal infrastructure projects, including Roadway, Drainage, Water, Wastewater, and Site Development improvements. The ideal candidate is collaborative, technically proficient, and capable of managing multiple project responsibilities in a fast-paced consulting environment. Project Engineer | 2+ Years Experience | E.I.T Certification Minimum – You'll contribute to the design and delivery of Public Works infrastructure projects, preparing construction plans and technical specifications, running calculations, coordinating with agencies and taking on increasing responsibility over time.

Project Manager | 4+ Years Experience | P.E. Required – You'll lead projects independently, manage scope, schedule, budget and client relationships while mentoring personnel and driving technical quality from kickoff through closeout.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare construction plans, specifications, and engineering designs for Public Works infrastructure projects
  • Perform engineering calculations, technical analyses, and cost estimates
  • Coordinate with Municipalities, Utility Agencies, clients, and regulatory authorities
  • Assist with project management activities, including schedules, budgets, and deliverables
  • Conduct site visits and review construction progress for compliance with project requirements
  • Collaborate with Engineers, Designers, and Technical staff to develop practical and efficient solutions
  • Support permitting, agency coordination, and approval processes
  • Prepare technical reports, exhibits, and supporting project documentation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • 2–4 years of experience for Project Engineer/E.I.T. candidates or 4–6 years of experience for Project Manager/P.E. candidates, with a primary focus on Public Works projects
  • E.I.T. certification required; P.E. license required for Project Manager candidates
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong understanding of local agency design criteria, standards, and permitting requirements
  • Experience working with Municipal clients and public agencies preferred
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a team-oriented environment
