Responsibilities
- Assist the team in coordinating and managing all pre-construction and construction-related activities for applicable projects, working closely with Development and Construction divisions.
- Learn, become familiar with, and utilize company software, including:
- Procore
- Microsoft Office (including Project for scheduling)
- Blue Beam Revu for electronic document mark-ups and onscreen take-offs
- Timberscan for Accounts Payable invoice approval
- Sage 300 for project-specific Estimating, Project Management, Job Cost, and Accounting needs
- Travel to project sites at least once a month to ensure progress, quality, and that field personnel are equipped to complete the project as expected.
- Coordinate, assist, and communicate with the team to ensure overall project success.
- Communicate with on-site field personnel to ensure they have the tools to direct and supervise all on-site activities, achieving completion on schedule, within budget, with quality workmanship, and to the satisfaction of Development and Property Management Teams.
- Prepare and maintain the project schedule and manage it through completion; assist in identifying potential issues and solving problems to maintain the construction schedule.
- Verify all required municipal inspections and communicate findings to the Project Manager.
- Coordinate with permanent utility companies to ensure they are prepared to deliver utilities to the site based on the project schedule; pass coordination details to field staff for scheduling and supervision.
- Work with the Project Manager to purchase GC-provided materials and coordinate delivery with the field team.
- Maintain positive relationships with all Garrett Companies personnel, design teams, contractors, suppliers, subcontractors, utility companies, and municipal representatives.
- Demonstrate commitment to an Injury-Free Environment through actions, mentoring others, and assisting in rectifying job site hazards immediately.
- Review Superintendent’s Daily Reports organized by the Garrett Contract Administrator to ensure the project is progressing as expected.
- Assist and ensure the Superintendent provides a bi-weekly two-week progress report (previous two weeks and next two weeks) to the Project Management Team.
- Provide training and education to Garrett Companies personnel as needed to ensure project success.
- Maintain organized project-specific electronic and paper files.
- Complete individual scopes of work and assist with subcontract documents.
- Obtain, understand, submit, and organize Transmittals, Correspondence Log, RFIs, Change Requests, Submittals, Commitments and Commitment Change Orders, O&M documents, drawing logs, and drawing revisions; immediately provide site with all drawing revisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction or a related field, or 3-5 years of experience in the construction industry.
- Consistently detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to recognize personal shortcomings and seek improvement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to listen, understand intents and goals, and think creatively and innovatively.
- Professional judgment and discretion developed through experience in customer service, internal teams, and third-party consultants.

Physical Demands
- Ability to traverse property and facilities.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
Training and Development
- Participate in the Garrett Companies Onboarding Program in Indianapolis.
- Ongoing training supported by the company, including membership in professional organizations and continuing education.
- Company-specific training provided.
