Project Engineer-Multifamily Construction

About the role
You will assist the Project Manager with planning and daily execution of wood-frame, residential construction projects, leveraging your experience to improve delivery and outcomes. The primary project for this role is:
- Long Beach Marina Shores: A 390-unit, podium-style development in Long Beach, CA. The site—formerly a landfill adjacent to ocean and marshland—will require early site-work, utility relocation, induced settlement, deepened foundations, and an active methane mitigation system. The project includes a 7-level, 215,951 SF wrap-style parking garage at grade, surrounded by 6 floors of residential (5 wood-framed stories on 1 concrete podium).
Responsibilities
- Assist the Project Manager with planning and execution of construction projects.
- Support the project schedule as assigned.
- Manage procurement and submittal logs.
- Review submittals and shop drawings for conformance with Contract Documents; coordinate approvals with the design team.
- Coordinate shop drawings, material interface, access, and routing with Subcontractors and Design Team.
- Manage preparation of mock-ups for Owner approval.
- Support project quality control by inspecting work in progress and completed work.
- Assist Superintendent with site logistics planning.
- Assist Project Manager with developing scopes of work, bid package development, bid analysis, and quantity take-offs.
- Manage drawing and document issuance, including design updates and Requests for Information.
- Assist Project Manager with Change Management.
- Manage project closeout and preparation of closeout documents.
- Manage consultant, city, and internal punch list correction.
- Conduct all business in accordance with company policies, state, and federal laws (e.g., OSHA, ADA, Fair Housing).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- 1+ years’ experience in commercial or residential construction (preferred).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Smartsheet, Procore, and Bluebeam.
- Must be able to pass a drug screen after a conditional offer of employment.
Bonus Qualifications
- Prior multifamily project experience.
- OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour training within the last 5 years.
- First Aid and CPR training within the last 2 years.
Pay
Base compensation range: $94,000 to $101,000. Total compensation includes a bonus incentive in addition to base salary. The company reserves the right to adjust pay based on circumstances unrelated to an applicant’s protected status.
