Job Summary

The Project Engineer Intern will support the Engineering team through hands-on project work and essential administrative tasks. This role will primarily assist with the Tetrapak Steam Isolation Project and contribute to technical drawing preparation using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

Essential Duties & Functions

  • Aid with the Tetrapak Steam Isolation Project
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, maintenance, safety, and quality
  • Develop project plan timelines and lead cross-functional work groups to complete projects within specification, on time and on budget, while also ensuring safety and food safety practices are followed
  • Manage all aspects of the project including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and controlling, project closure
  • Lead team meetings, identifying pinch points, managing and documenting project progress, action items, and timelines
  • Identify solutions with Maintenance and Safety departments
  • The execution phase will require the candidate to be onsite during a plant shutdown to implement the solution and manage contractors
  • Create equipment parts in SolidWorks
  • Build layout updates in AutoCAD
  • Provide general administrative support to the Engineering team, including contractor management, checking electrical schedules and phenolic plates, and ensuring all appropriate documentation is stored properly
  • Partner with Engineering team on communication projects
  • Aid with internal and external communications
  • Prepare presentations and reports for project updates and results to stakeholders
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred
  • Knowledge of computer software such as MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the ability to quickly learn and navigate other computer systems
  • Attention to detail & strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong sense of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality in all situations
  • High sense of urgency and flexibility
  • Strong customer service skills and a collaborative approach
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written, in English
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification is strongly preferred

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Work is performed largely in an office environment and on the manufacturing plant floor
  • Hours of work will generally be during regular business hours with at least 30 hours a week
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods
  • Fine motor skills for operating tools or machinery
  • Work in hot, cold, or humid environments
  • Occasional exposure to loud machinery or equipment
  • Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
