Job Summary
The Project Engineer Intern will support the Engineering team through hands-on project work and essential administrative tasks. This role will primarily assist with the Tetrapak Steam Isolation Project and contribute to technical drawing preparation using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
Essential Duties & Functions
- Aid with the Tetrapak Steam Isolation Project
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, maintenance, safety, and quality
- Develop project plan timelines and lead cross-functional work groups to complete projects within specification, on time and on budget, while also ensuring safety and food safety practices are followed
- Manage all aspects of the project including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and controlling, project closure
- Lead team meetings, identifying pinch points, managing and documenting project progress, action items, and timelines
- Identify solutions with Maintenance and Safety departments
- The execution phase will require the candidate to be onsite during a plant shutdown to implement the solution and manage contractors
- Create equipment parts in SolidWorks
- Build layout updates in AutoCAD
- Provide general administrative support to the Engineering team, including contractor management, checking electrical schedules and phenolic plates, and ensuring all appropriate documentation is stored properly
- Partner with Engineering team on communication projects
- Aid with internal and external communications
- Prepare presentations and reports for project updates and results to stakeholders
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred
- Knowledge of computer software such as MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the ability to quickly learn and navigate other computer systems
- Attention to detail & strong problem-solving skills
- Strong sense of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality in all situations
- High sense of urgency and flexibility
- Strong customer service skills and a collaborative approach
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written, in English
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification is strongly preferred
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Work is performed largely in an office environment and on the manufacturing plant floor
- Hours of work will generally be during regular business hours with at least 30 hours a week
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods
- Fine motor skills for operating tools or machinery
- Work in hot, cold, or humid environments
- Occasional exposure to loud machinery or equipment
- Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
