Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field required
- Five (5) to ten (10) years of experience in engineering, survey, or construction preferred
- Class D drivers license required
- Massachusetts Professional Engineer certificate preferred
- Ability to obtain Drinking Water and Wastewater operator licenses as required by the specific Project Engineer position held within the DPW
Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of Civil Engineering
- Working knowledge of state and local regulations pertaining to the design, construction, and repair of DPW infrastructure
- Working knowledge of state and local procurement regulations and policies
- Working knowledge of federal, state and local environmental regulations and policies
- Knowledge of engineering related computer application programs
- Ability to prepare plans, specifications, cost estimates and contract documents for construction projects
- Ability to write and communicate effectively, prepare reports and maintain accurate records
- Ability to work independently, respond to difficult and sensitive public inquiries and maintain tactfulness and courtesy in high stress situations
- Ability to maintain accurate records, operate a computer, including word processing and spreadsheet applications
- Ability to work in a close-knit, team environment
- Proficiency in the use of computers including word processing, spreadsheets, database, and engineering, drafting and design software
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with individuals and groups
