Project Engineer I, DPW

Responsibilities

• Conducting research
• Data collection
• Performing evaluations
• Planning
• Design
• Construction inspection
• Survey
• Contracting
• Contract management
• All other related work as required

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field required
• Up to three (3) years of experience in engineering, survey, or construction preferred
• Class D drivers license required
• Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam certificate preferred
• Ability to obtain Drinking Water and Wastewater operator licenses as required by the specific Project Engineer position held within the DPW

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the principles and practices of Civil Engineering
• Knowledge of state and local regulations pertaining to the design, construction, and repair of DPW infrastructure
• Some knowledge of state and local procurement regulations and policies
• Ability to prepare plans, specifications, cost estimates and contract documents for construction projects
• Ability to write and communicate effectively, prepare reports and maintain accurate records
• Ability to work independently, respond to difficult and sensitive public inquiries and maintain tactfulness and courtesy in high stress situations
• Ability to maintain accurate records, operate a computer, including word processing and spreadsheet applications
• Ability to work in a close-knit, team environment
• Proficiency in the use of computers including word processing, spreadsheets, database, and engineering, drafting and design software
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with individuals and groups
