Project Engineer I - Design

About the role

Collins is seeking a highly motivated Design Project Engineer I to play a key role on our Western Division team located in Salt Lake City, Utah. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest and background in structural design engineering and can bring creative design skills to a project team environment. This position requires the ability to perform both structural inspections and design, adhere to project timelines and budgets, and liaise with clients, contractors, and government agencies. Responsibilities

• Performs structural engineering computations according to engineering standards and practices.
• Provides technical engineering expertise to ensure that projects comply with all engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design instructions.
• Reviews, analyzes, and resolves field and/or design issues.
• Prepares complete engineering plans or reports.
• Demonstrates proficiency in computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare design documents.
• Makes design recommendations and/or adaptations.
• Responsible for engineering projects of varying size and complexity in the field or office in accordance with plans and specifications.
• Adheres to project budgets and timelines and apprises the Project Manager of potential or anticipated changes in scope.
• Is available to attend client meetings or events outside of normal working hours.
• Actively observes and acts in an appropriate manner related to safety.
