Project Engineer - Heavy Civil Construction with AIS Infrastructure

About the role

The Project Engineer provides technical expertise and support in the planning, design, and execution of construction and industrial services projects. This role ensures the successful implementation of infrastructure projects while adhering to AIS Infrastructure's safety standards and protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and implementation of project plans, including scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Work closely with Field Engineer to conduct feasibility studies, site investigations, and assessments to evaluate project requirements and constraints.
  • Prepare detailed engineering designs, specifications, and drawings.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities, to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Monitor and inspect construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.
  • Work closely with Quality Control Manager and Safety Manager to ensure strict adherence to guidelines.
  • Track submittals and complete RFIs, REAs, CORs, and CTCs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience managing or assisting with civil construction and/or public infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction practices, and project management.
  • Familiarity with relevant software and tools, such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Procore, Primavera, Bluebeam, HCSS, and/or Trimble Viewpoint Vista.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Technical knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex engineering concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field (highly preferred).
  • Experience with quality control tasks on a heavy civil construction site (preferred).
  • Any quality-related certifications (a plus).
  • Experience working with USACE, DOT, or other government agencies (a plus).
