About the role

The Project Engineer provides technical expertise and support in the planning, design, and execution of construction and industrial services projects, ensuring successful implementation while adhering to safety standards and protocols. This role primarily supports projects in the Southeastern U.S. (mainly Georgia) and requires travel to project sites, with occasional work in the Chattanooga, TN office.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and implementation of project plans, including scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, site investigations, and assessments to evaluate project requirements and constraints.
  • Prepare detailed engineering designs, specifications, and drawings.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities, to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Monitor and inspect construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.
  • Work closely with the quality control manager to ensure strict adherence to guidelines.
  • Track submittals and complete RFIs, REAs, CORs, and CTCs.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance to access secure facilities, including military bases.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing or assisting with civil construction and/or public infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with relevant software and tools, such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and project management software.
  • Knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction practices, and project management.
  • Proficiency in construction project management and strong technical knowledge of civil engineering principles.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex engineering concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field (highly preferred).
  • Experience with quality control tasks on heavy civil construction sites (preferred).
  • Quality-related certifications (a plus).
  • Experience working with USACE and/or on NAVFAC projects (a plus).
  • Experience with industrial power plant projects and/or DOT projects (a plus).
  • Familiarity with relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations.
